So I am getting my form back, after an injury, a lot of school, and some laziness.

I am so proud of this BLACK Toe that I wanted to share with everyone. You see my second toe is longer than my firs and so it can't keep a toenail when I run a lot. Last year I had one every week when I was running 50+ miles per week!my toe

I also wandered if anyone else is proud of their training scars.

Collarbone Broken in 3 places, severed tendons holding it "down"
Plate, 8 screws, 30 some odd staples, medicine that made me sick to eat and sicker not to eat. It was a fun time.

Almost a year later it's still a beautiful (but tender) reminder to always keep my eyes ahead on the road, and not down at the chain.

This was taken when it was a couple of weeks old. It also went up the lower back, and across the other cheek. (Tore the labrum in my hip when I did it, too) I couldn't sit right for a good month.

Wow, Veganman! WTF did they have to do to your left leg? Or was that just a huge cut?

I crossed tires in mile 5 going downhill 42mph.  Had an avulsion (think fillet) of two quads from slamming into an aid station ice chest.  Not sure how far I slid on the pavement.  Landed on my stomach, thought my guts were torn out by the reaction of the first person to come into my view.  It is a horrific story, including everything my wife went thru during the ordeal.  Didn't break a bone though.  Took a while to get back but ended up running the KC 1/2 mary that October.

ETA: Just missed the major artery on the backside of the knee.  Still have edema to this day.

I'll see if I can get some pics tonite if I have time (leaving for Chi-town in the morning).  As I mentioned, I still have edema and numbness, sometimes if feels heavy, but otherwise I'm doing well.

I'll never fully straighten my left arm again after a "clipless" incident, but that seems trivial now.

That's funny--because not being able to straighten your arm isn't trivial. Imagine how the OP feels with his little boo-boo after seeing some of the others--especially VeganMan.

crazy thing is, if you are like me, the road rash hurts worse than the surgery did. Maybe it was the drugs.

Road rash may heal quicker than broken bones, but it (like its evil cousin, burns) is excruciatingly painful. You get drugs with surgery. Chances are you ain't getting drugs for road rash (at least I've never had anyone offer me any... maybe I just need different doctors...)

I know my toe is no big deal. I wanted to get some real training scars in here. My black toes are common in running. I know when I get them my mileage is starting to pick up.

Thankfully (crosses fingers) I have not had a bike wreck "yet." It is important to remind everyone that parts of this sport are dangerous. I just hope that if I have some mishap that I am both as luck as you guys (to live) and as dedicated to continue with my training!

You guys ROCK! (and girls
