Swim
Comments: Started in back middle of the pack. Largest wave I have been in so I didn't want to get caught up in all the madness. I knew a few seconds back would not be a big deal to me. Started out much calmer this year compared to last. Heart rate was still high though. My swim consisted of freestyle then stopping, freestyle then stopping. The last 100 meters my HR got even higher though. Not sure why? Maybe knowing I am almost done? Water was disgusting but no surprise there. What would you do differently?: Not sure if there is anything. Can only do more races to learn to control the HR. Transition 1
Comments: HR was higher than normal in T1 so I took a tad bit more time than I normally would have. Also had a little trouble getting one sock on. What would you do differently?: Get my right sock on faster! Bike
Comments: Quads were hurting a little but not too bad. Made sure to drink most of my water and just enjoy racing. Still want to break the 20mph mark but I am definitely happy with my results. Average 133W - goal was 150 which may be a little high. I think I can push harder than 133 though. Also nice to have Eric cheering for me when I came off the bike. What would you do differently?: Maybe push a tad harder? Transition 2
Comments: Only issue here was dropping my race belt as I was running out. Thankfully a fellow triathlete yelled at me and picked it up for me. Gotta love this sport! What would you do differently?: Not drop my race belt Run
Comments: Run was about as expected. Tad slower than last year but it was also a tad longer. And of course it was hot and humid! Post race
Warm down: Walked around, drank Gatorade and talked to some other BT peeps. Nice to know some many folks racing. What limited your ability to perform faster: My goals for this race were - stay calm during the OWS, beat my time from last year and just enjoy racing. (I tend to worry too much about my times and forget to "enjoy" the sport when I am racing.) I think I did a good job of all three. The OWS will always be my limiting factor but with each race I do, I get a little calmer which is progress. Event comments: Onurleft did a great job. I thought they did well last year but it was even better this year! Great post race food/festivities, well marked course, lots of volunteers and nice swag. They really try to listen to the community of triathletes. Last updated: 2010-06-09 12:00 AM

Up at 4AM and out the door shortly thereafter.
Did a warm up swim with Keri and chatted with her until our wave started. It was so nice to have someone to talk to beforehand. Thanks for keeping me calm Keri!
