Subject: What running shoe should I look for?
Hi there everyone, I am looking into buying some new running shoes for me, up until now I just went and got whichever felt right when I tried them on, but now after informing myself, I know that I step with overpronation and have med-high arch which is not very common to have combined. Can anyone recommend a type of running shoe for someone loke me? I am 5´11" and weigh 170.

My last running shoe was an Adidas Adizero XT which I loved, I am just wondering if going with something more specifically built for my type of foot/step I will be less prone to injuries and might better my times on the run.

Thanks in advance!!

We are two different breeds so I cannot offer a specific suggestion.

Try the shoe finder app at Road Runner Sports:

Did you get foot/ankle/knee injuries while wearing them? If not and you loved them then why, exactly, are you looking to switch? The biggest reason to switch is they start injuring you.

Isn't the XT a trail shoe?  Do you run most or all runs on trails?  I run trails with road shoes but I have never liked running roads with trail shoes.  So are you looking for a trail shoe?

x2

adding a more stable shoe is just as likely, if not more likely to cause problems than help.  Use only as much stability as you really really need.  The data is coming in and it's pretty consistent.  the less stability/support/cushioning- the better.  Use as little as you need to be comfortable.

I am not sure that I want to switch, so far these have worked great and I have had no injuries, but I hear people saying that if it is not the right shoe for the way you step you are a lot more prone to injure yourself, I would repeat but since I am a newbie and all the people I know that have been doing this for a while keep telling me to look for a different shoe that adapts I am kind of freaking out. What would you guys do?

I did find out that the XT are for trail running after I bought them of course, but coming back to what I said I do find them very comfortable for running (normally on roads or at the park), I must say that I don´t have experience to compare with others, just that these are comfortable.

Thanks to all for your patience with me!

Did you buy your shoes at a running shop or at a big box store? A running store can analyze your gait and get you into the right kind of shoes. On the other hand, if it ain't broke, don't fix it.

X2 on above, go to a running store and have your gait analyzed.
