So besides me, who else decided to donate money to the Kona lottery this year?  I know the odds but since at my best I am still about 3-4 hours off the pace for my age group (M30-34) it's worth it.  I was able to go to Hawaii last year to watch.  In a word....INCREDIBLE! Definitely a different experience then the other IM's I've done.

I also donated my money, and I'm in the same age group as you.

Just searched Ironman lottery FAQ:

When and where can I view the winners of the Ironman Lottery?

I did sign up.  Then unfortunately a few months later I ended up having to have foot surgery.  Never would have signed up if I had known I would still be in rehab at this point.

So I don't think my four letter word will be "yeah!" if my name is drawn.  I think I can still pull it off it just won't be ideal!

Um, yeah, been thinking about it all week! There's actually another race I really want to do the same day (Oct. 8th). Not quite as bad as Kona of course, so I figure that increases my odds by a lot adding to it that I'm already going to spend big bucks at IM Lake Placid in July. So, I halfway expect to be drawn!

I'm guessing that most people who really want to go won't get drawn and the people that don't really want to go will.  dang murphy's law

My wife and I both entered.

If one of us gets in maybe we can talk WTC/NBC into letting the other one in and doing a husband/wife human interest story?

Not in the lottery but trying to get in via the " hardship story"...... I have this real bad dry skin... Think NBC would like to cover this story.... It really is itchy! Lol

I once read somewhere that it takes an average of 6 years to get in via the lottery. But that was before the popularity of the sport really took off in the last several years. I have been in the lottery for over 10 years now. Maybe in another 10 years I can sell them on my hardship story of not getting picked for so many years!

What got me into Triathlon in the first place was my boss in Anchorage back in 1984 who just signed up for it. Who knew.

This was discussed a while back. The figures back then were 7000 entries, 200 slots, approx 1 in 35.

NY marathon gives you an automatic entry if you register for the lottery three years in a row without getting in.

Kona definitely couldn't do the same thing, but maybe if you did the lottery 6-9 years in a row they could consider it!  Or at least share the wealth by saying you could only get in via the lottery once?

Its my second year in the lottery. I will be both relieved and annoyed if I don't get in - weird huh!

Good luck to all

Look, if you had one shot, or one opportunity ?
To seize everything you ever wanted in one moment ?

Would you capture it? Or just let it slip?

.........?Success is my only option, failure's not So here I go is my shot. ?Feet fail me not 'cause maybe the only opportunity that I got
