Subject: RE: ESI Ironman 70.3 Augusta : Official ThreadEveryone is different when it comes to nutrition. What works for some doesn't work for others and then there is always the flavor to factor in. But it's definitely something you want to work out before race day.
I have good luck with PowerBar stuff and use their Ironman Perform drink when I ride and run since it will actually be handed out on the course and my body will be use to it already. I loke the flavors, others don't but the nice part is it has less sugar than Gatoraide.
I also utilize their gels, energy blasts, energy bites, and triple energy bars. I have a very sensitive digestive system and am prone to ulcers but for some reason I have no problem with the PowerBar products. They are also working hard on their flavors and are even coming out with new gel flavors. One of them is Mango and is pretty good!
I have heard that a general rule of thumb is that you want to get calories in you every 45 min or so. My boyfriend is my coach and works with me on my nutrition and when I should take things. If I get nauseous or don't feel like it did well we try something else.
There is a nutrition forum on here with tons of questions and answers about nutrition since it is such an important part. Also there are some reviews of stuff in the Gear Reviews section. |
