Thanks - I did the Goofy last year - wasn't happy with either of my times so I'm going to try a different approach this year. |

I see you are from The Woodlands - I was there for IMTX - what a place - I was amazed at how well everything was setback. it took me a couple of days to understand the traffic and why it was so heavy. then I realized that there was a lot "behind" those trees that folks were going to, nice place. |

Expert 1544 Alexandria, MN | Subject: RE: Walt Disney World Marathon : Official Thread It's official, I'm registered now for Disney as my first 26.2 mile run. Question for those in the know: They asked for a recent race time for use in corral placement of runners. The way they make it sound is if you're going to do it under 5 hours then you'll be in the front in the first corral, otherwise you're in back. Is there more than one corral up front, or is it everyone who thinks they'll finish under 5 hours? |

Is there more than one corral up front, or is it everyone who thinks they'll finish under 5 hours? Last time I ran Disney (2009) the corrals went A-G (i think). If you indicate you will finish in under 5 hrs you must provide proof of time and they will corral you accordingly with the faster runners in the earlier corrals. If you are more than 5 hrs they put you in the last corrals. i think the corrals start 5-7 minutes apart, so you could be in for a bit of a wait if you're in one of the last ones. |

Expert 1544 Alexandria, MN | Subject: RE: Walt Disney World Marathon : Official Thread So if I told them I'd finish in 4:22 (10 min miles) where should that put me? I did provide two races that confirm my finish time is realistic. And my wife is shooting for 3:39, will she be right up at the front then? |

I haven't run Disney since 2010, but it probably hasn't changed much in the last 2 years. They had two "Wave" type starts... Red and Blue. The red wave went first and it was corrals A, B and C. A and B being the fastest runners and C following that. So you've got A in front, then B behind them and then C. Then on the other side of the road was corrals D-H(or whatever is last now). The blue wave started a couple minutes after the red wave. The first year I ran I was in Corral D and right under the Starting line. It was really cool. The second year I expected a faster finish and I was placed in Corral C and honestly, I wish I had just queued up in corral D. I think it took me 6 or 7 minutes to get to the starting line after the gun went off in corral C. The red wave takes a slightly different route then the blue wave for the first 3 or 4 miles. Then as you're leaving Epcont it's this massive merge of red/blue runners. In the past it was perfectly fine to go to a slower corral.. Like if you're corral C you can line up in D etc. Obviously, you can't move up. So if you're wife is planning on a faster finish than you, she can line up in corral C or D or whatever your corral is to start with you. I'm guessing she'd be in corral A or B with an estimated 3:30 finish. I had done all my training runs alone, and running that race with 23,000 other runners was just mind blowing to me! Very cool watching this mass of people crossing the overpass on top of you. Have fun!

Last year was my first time at Disneyland since I was a kid and it was just so much fun! Hoping the weather is a little less freezing than what we heard about last year. Hope everyone is enjoying some nice fall weather right now! |

23,000 runners? omg...wow. i'm doing the 1/2 in feb and wondering what corral i'll start in w/out a 'proof of time?' close to the starting line or further back? this is new to me. Without proof of time you will be in one of the last (if not last) corrals. At least in theory. In 2010, 2 of my brothers and i ran the 1/2, I provided proof of time and was placed in corral B. They just put down their estimated finish time without proof of that time and they were seated in B too. So, it appears the organizers went just with their estimated time. I don't know if that was a mistake or not and I would not count on that happening to you, but you never know... |

Elite 3658 Roswell, GA | Subject: RE: Walt Disney World Marathon : Official Thread As my wife said earlier, Team Brown Dog is in for the Goofy! I'm pretty stoked about this race. I stood on the sidelines and watched my wife do the half and a buddy do the full a few years back and thought "damn! I wish I didn't have bad knees.". I thought the Goofy folks were mental. Fast forward a few years, marathons, and Ironmans, and things are different. Anyone have some pacing advice for the Goofy? |

74 | Subject: RE: Walt Disney World Marathon : Official Thread I am in for the Marathon. I hear it is a nightmare getting down to the event. My understanding is you cannot bring your family and you have to ride the buses to get there so you need to wear the clothing you are going to race in. Anyone who has done the race have any insight? |
