You're mom is training for a IM?  That is so awesome.  I don't even know her, but from what you wrote in this thread she's my hero too!

That is amazing. Congrats to your mom!!!

That is great!  Your mom sounds like a courageous woman.  I hope that she is succesful and that she enjoys herself immensely along the path to her chosen goal.

PS  I tried talking my own dear sweet mother into training for a tri but she feels that, at 76, her nightly walk after dinner is sufficient ...

Thats so awesome!!! My dad did marathons and I used to go to races with him when I was a kid. So inspiring! And how cool...you can do some training with your mom! I'm so jeleous - my mom's a total couch potato smoker.

Rock on Mommy Misscullen!!

I'll throw one out there for my mom. I was training for my first 10k run in Spring 2003. I was training really hard and I convinced my mom to come run the race with me as I had an extra entry. She'd been running on a treadmill a bit so she took me up on my offer. At the 6km mark, I left her behind because I felt she was holding me back. Turns out my time was 59:something and her time was 61:something. Way to go mom!

My mom got her driver's license when I was 15. We were new drivers together. Before that, she rode her bike everywhere.

My mom does not swim though. When she comes to the pool with me, she uses it as an opportunity to go in the hot tub and the sauna.

Laura your mom and your whole family is super cool. Not only does your mom do triathlons, she signs everyone else in your family up as well.

Moms are freakin' great.  My mom has suddenly taken up kayaking.  She does cooler things that I do.
