Subject: RE: I'm an auntie!!Thanks for asking, Ellen (and everyone ).
I got to see the little trouper this morning. He is incredibly cute (and I'm COMPLETELY objective ). We still can't hold him, and his mom can't nurse him, but we are trying to be as near him as we can.
The doctor says the best scenario is that he will be able to leave the oxygen 'tent' on Saturday, and perhaps the hospital by Monday. We all hope so. Mostly we all hope that mom and dad can hold Levi soon.
Despite the difficulty in breathing, he seems strong to us and vibrant! As weird as this may sound, he seems to respond appropriately to negative impulse (needle pricking, iv, losing his pacifier (since he can't nurse, I guess it's considered a bit of a training tool ) ) which is a very good sign--not passive at all! He's pretty quick to tell you that he doesn't like it!
He's the first baby in our family in over 30 years, so everyone is more than a little excited!!
All signs seem good...phew!!
