I don't know where and what you drink when here but... I drink 6 point beer at Squatters! Yeah baby!! Interesting read regarding the alcohol percentage of the beer here in UT. "One aspect of beer brewing where nearly all Utah beer makers lose their sense of humor is what they refer to as the “3.2 myth.” Many beer drinkers don’t realize that there are two methods for measuring alcohol content: by weight and by volume. Most states measure alcohol content by volume, but Utah regulators measure by weight. If Utah’s infamous 3.2 beers (measured by weight) were measured by volume as in most other places, the alcohol percentage would measure 4.0, a level on par with mainstream beers in the rest of the country. The recent trend toward light and low-carb beers complicates the issue even further. Schirf explains, “Light beers are lower in alcohol content by definition. You can’t lower carbs without lowering alcohol. So, when a guy drinks Bud Light at home, which is about 2.2 percent alcohol, and then comes to Utah and complains about our 3.2 beer he ends up looking pretty foolish to anyone who knows the real story.” |
