Geez, if I were to try to gather a family picture for every year for the last 30 years, I would have to find the pictures of 1 ex-wife, 20 different girlfriends and a few of their children.  That would be too much trouble.  I'll just go with the family pictures for the last 11 years .... it's easier.

We do a family picture ever New Years Eve. My wife makes a scrapbook for each year and it starts with that pic.

Wow... I think this is one of the cooolest things I have seen.   Kind of keep things in perspective...  I think that metamorphosis that take place over time is a really cool thing to document..   I kind of like the idea, and might start my own little tradition....

now.. what date should I pick...

i actually know a family that takes a family photo on the first of every month.  If they have compnay, the guests get into the picture too.  It's very cool.

Gosh, I think that woman is absolutely beautiful.

Here's another great series. It may be the classic series of yearly family photos.

Nicholas Nixon

25 Years of the Brown Sisters

That first portrait was a seminal work that influenced numerous photographers after it appeared in a show at MOMA in the late seventies.

Then there's Michael Apted's Up series . That's the one that he started in the early sixties, filming a group of seven year olds, then revisiting them every seven years. I guess 49Up should be due out in the next year or two.
