COURT JESTER  12230     ROCKFORD, IL |  Subject: H E L P ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! !OH DEAR GOD IN HEAVEN ABOVE...PLEASE HELP ME!!!! Was just informed by the BIG BOSS that there will be a presentation on CONCRETE (freaking) PIPE today from Noon - 5p. How can someone talk about concrete pipe for FIVE (insert Yosemite Sam style rant) HOURS!!!???????!!!!!! I would rather slam a Wahoo, Wocork, or nearly any other body part in a screen door repeatedly for the same five hours than sit through some boring engineer talking about concrete pipe. I have class every Wednesday night and this works for me to kill some of the time. If all else fails, write a training plan for the next few weeks/months. |

Slip a blank, preprinted grid table in with your portfolio/pad of paper and surreptitiously fill in the blanks during the presentation. Worked for me when I was taking my First Responder class with all the yakkers who wouldn't shut up. |

What I do to amuse myself in long boring meetings. 1) I look around the room and try to decide which cartoon character each person looks like: Oh, he looks like Gargomel from the Smurfs or he looks like Ziggy (or whatever) 2) I try to imagine that for some reason, the people in the room are stranded on an island and what would happen next. Who would be the crazy guy that ran off in into the jungle naked? Who would hook up? Who would try to be the boss? (I have a crazy imagination, and can keep myself amused) The only problem has been when I'm having this debate about whether someone looks more like Brenda Starr or Betty (in Archie comics) and someone asks my opinion about the topic at hand..... |

One of it's more popular uses is in poisoning cases when non-caustic poisons are injested. It gets them out in a hurry. I have a couple of things I do in boring meetings: - Play corporate jargon bingo: Before the meeting make a list of the annoying corporate words that people use and then check them off when people say them. When all of the words are checked off jump up and yell "Bingo!!!" really loudly and then walk out. - Bring a list of the cell phone numbers for other people in the the room. Dial a number and when they step away to answer it, hang up on them. I actually really did do this one. There is one woman on my team that is really gullable - and she has a great sense of humor. I called her 4 times in a row. She kept jumping up and running to the door to take the call in the hallway. She finally turned off her phone. |

Just go home for lunch, then call your boss and tell him that you were in a horrific accident that left you in a vegitative state. Then tell him you'll be back in tomorrow
or just bring your laptop in to "take notes" and use the companies wireless network to sit here on the forums, just like you normally would. I use this tactic in class quite often |
