Subject: RE: Triathlon career cut shortIan:
How is it you've decided your "triathlon career" has been cut short? It's a minor setback. You'll heel, then get right back on your feet, and start training again. The positive way of thinking is as the others have said: get yourself out there and volunteer... we need plenty of volunteers! Plus, you're alive, and "fixable." Your bike can be replaced if it's damaged. Endurance and strength is rebuilt.
So, consider this an obstacle in your life. This isn't a career that's affected (unless you're a pro--and even then, it's still not really affected ); it's a season that's affected. It's normal to feel a little depressed after such an injury, but as I've said already, it's a minor setback.
I know I sound cold-hearted, but it's a concept that I was raised with and use to this day. Never give up! Never surrender! Always be strong! Life happens.
Cheers! and happy healing!
