Duck vs. human

Not while training but in drivers ed during a road class in high school while I was in the back seat waiting my turn a kid ran over a goose crossing the road. 

Think about that for a minute. 

1.  Bird flying head on to my bike only change direction (sharp 90 degree turn sideways) a couple feet from my front wheel.  I had to slam on my brake and almost fell. 

2.  Last week... when riding on the bike trail, saw a bunny looking left and right before crossing.  So cute I LMAO and, again, almost fell. 

3.  Me taking a detour to pet on a cat while running on said trail. 

4.  Rode on road next to an ugly pond and on hot days saw turtles strolling on the road. 

Vortmax's story beats mine, but I did come EXTREEEMLY close to hitting a deer on my bike once.  I ride in the early morning, and the sun was just coming up.  I was going past an area of woods where there's a clearing and a farm field just past the trees.  Well, this deer was in the farm field ambling onto the road as I silently and unexpectedly came past the trees.

We both had a quick heart attack contest.  Then a mash the brakes contest.  Then I watched her bound back through the field, probably wondering wtf I was.  Man, we were like eyeball to eyeball when I got past those trees.  It was funny, and sorta cool.

My latest close encounter was with a squirel.  He/she/it was doing the what the heck do I do dance about an inch from my pedal as I rode by.  I figured he/she/it was about to go under or through the back wheel.  The pucker factor was high but no impact.

I have seen a couple snakes running.  Don't like them at all.  The only good snake is a dead snake.  I have a deal with snakes.  If they don't let me see them, I won't try to kill them.

A frog jumped off of a tree and hit me in the head while running.
The dominant male duck has chased me twice while running by a lake.
Almost stepped on 2 snakes.
There have been a few dogs that decided to tes my speed. The best one was a Chiuaua that got really close, until I jumped over a cable junction box behide a mailbox. Well I jumped and he didn't, then I heard a thump, yelp, and then he ran home.
The worst was the Goose, he is very aggresive, chased me for a while. Damn they are fast. Neck all extended and hissing at me. He also chases cars.

Last Wednesday, I was about a foot from turning a Cananda goose into a speed bump.  They are so used to traffic that I was the one that actually blinked.

You know that this was some sort of squirrel gang initiation.  Did you happen to notice some bad *** squirrels in a tree nearby laughing?

Those geese are a secret military project up here.  We don't really have a military so they thought it would be a good idea to train some geese to kill and then set them free in a bid to take over the US.  Wait until the next migration.  You'll see the devistation . 

This is too funny!  I'm cracking up picturing you sprinting away from a swan.  Good stuff.
