Who has got snipped?
OptionResults
Yes, It was my Choice
Yes, went kicking and screaming
I plan on doing it when the time is right
If forced, I will comply
HE!! no, will never do it
No reason to and don't much care either way.
yes, we BOTH agreed it was time.
I prefer to call it Sliced & Diced - and I did!
I'm a woman but just want to see the results of the poll...
Does SRS count?
My wife had a C-section so we took care of her then instead.
a little self control is a lot less painful
I've been riding for a long time - same results
I'm in the queue....had to be rescheduled
I'm down, the wife isn't sure yet.
This is a multiple choice poll.

Subject: Who has got snipped?

I went with my wife today for the initial conference to have the "procedure" and get snipped.  I'm not going to lie, I'm a little nervous.  On Monday we are going to schedule it for the next few weeks.

Anyone out there in BT land been snipped, anyone refuses?

(Just so we're clear, I am talking about getting a vasectomyCry)

I was a bit nervous but I reminded myself that it was worth it.  My wife was on birth control for x amount of years...I might as well do this one-time thing so that she doesn't need to be buying pills and have to be responsible with the pill maintenance and anxiety any more.

I was nervous before hand.

I felt wierd having a nurse "prepare" me.  It felt quite akward.  Even the sarcastic joking side of me felt akward as it tried to convince me to put my hand in her hair just to see her response.  I didn't.  That was smart.

The few days after weren't as difficult as they say.  I was given vicodin...but I really didn't use much of it.  I just had some peas, a jock strap, and The Chronicles of Narnia.

I was nervous about the first ....ummm...discharge...but everything was just fine.

Kudos on going to the consult.  Lots of guys do it without even getting information beforehand.

I had a hard recovery, but it had nothing to do with the procedure.  6 weeks after the procedure, it still hurt down there, and I figured I would probably be stuck with it for the rest of my life.  I then learned that my chair at work leaned slightly forward, which put a lot of pressure down there.  Once I changed that, I felt better after about a week.

Several of my buddies have, no big deal (Once you decide to do it). Small incision, you're on your bike in two days...

Edit, i would, but don't need to....  (We had to adopt our children)....

Got mine done in 2002 after my third child.  No real biggie.  I must have been very nervous because when the hooked me up to the moinitors the nurse asked if I was ok, pulse or BP is my guess.  She put something in my IV and the next thing I knew three strange ladies were pulling up a jock strap on me.

Get frozen peas, they conform to the area very well.  Do it on a Friday and use the weekend to ice and relax, actual Dr. Orders.  By Monday you'll be fine.

Note:  your junk will look strange, interesting bruising, but no real pain, most of it will be in your head (Actual head no pun intended here).  I was extremely afraid to pee, no issue there.  Went back to work monday, the only thing that bothered me was walking up stairs, felt more like gravity issue but all was good after a few days.

Good part...... again Dr. orders........ You have to get rid of all that residual sperm for up to 30 days,  sorry ladies, but that's the ladies part

Worst part for me was the prep...really weird feeling, cold sweat. But the actual procedure and recovery were fairly painless. Just make sure you don't strat training too early, it could lead to pain and inflammation.

It's a piece of cake....do it. Frozen peas and a little makers mark did the trick for me. I don't know about the bike in two days but it doesn't take long.

I did it and have never regretted if. Very freeing.

When my son, the second child, was about 18 months old I knew I had no desire to father any more children In fact, if he had been born first he might have been an only child. What a handful!

I did it (at wifey's request) about 3 years ago, right after our 3rd kiddo was born.  Looking back on it, it was  a smart move. No way I could handle any more kids after that one!

Thanks for all of the advice and stories.  Like most said, my wife handled that stuff for the past 14 years, it's my turn to step up.  Also 3 little boys just like me is as much as this world can handle.

Done it.  Not a big deal.  And x4 on the peas.  Have several bags available and be sequestered from the children.  It's not fun when they jump on your lap and you're not fully recovered.

I was all set to get snipped.  When I met with my Dr. he said he always has couples wait 2 months to think about it so they are sure...my wife went into menopause the next month.  Smile  Good for me, bad for her (as in nasty hot flashes)  Frown

My wife is 7 months prego with #2 right now.  We know we're done after this one, so a couple months after munchkin 2 shows up I'll be heading down the same road...

Yep, in 2003 after the 4th child.

They gave me a relaxer pill before the procedure at my request.

And even though I followed the instructions, I swelled up about the size of a grapefruit.  Tried living with it for a few days at work (out of town engineers on my site) but the pain got me.  Doc said I had a hemotoma (sp?) form around the right testicle and standing up caused it to swell, which in turn squeezed things.

Would I do it again?  Yes.

Did it and not a big deal at all.  Went in on Friday and back to work on Monday.

I did the whole frozen pea thing, and for the first 5 hours it was 15 minutes on/30 minutes off.   I never bruised or felt any discomfort and even went out for a couple of mile walk that sunday.

You betcha!  Had the perfect girl, then the perfect boy and I'm done.  Got snipped and riding bareback is AWESOME!  Some things to note:

  1. Hope your nurse is pretty so at least you can say a pretty chick once shaved part of your balls.
  2. Most are done on Fridays.  Try to milk it all the way through the weekend and get your wife to wait on you as you rest and watch movies.  I made it until Saturday afternoon until mine figured out I was faking it and started to kick me to get and get stuff done.  Damn!  Recovery is easy.
  3. If you have a doc with a sense of humor (like mine) be careful to check the band-aid over the tiny incision.  I didn't until my wife started cracking up...  Hello Kitty.
  4. You're not "cleared to go" until you "flush out the pipes" and get test results of zero swimmers.  That can take 10-20 "releases" as some live in the tube.  I had my doc write me an actual prescription for my wife to "fill" for 20 bjs.  That didn't go over so well.  But you have to let the lab tell you when you're good to go.
  5. I was swimming by Monday, running in a week and I took 2 weeks off of biking and was fine.
  6. I have no permanent affects.  Everything feels and works normally.  I hardly ever think about it.

If you love your wife and you're done with kids...  Go for it!  Good luck!

Had it done back in 1999.  Worst part was the novocaine injection.  Had it done on Friday, was able to run on Monday.  No regrets having it done.

After second child, wife said we could have a third if I could give birth to him/her.  After that, "we" decided that I'd get snipped.  Procedure and recovery were a snap.  Not a big deal at all.

Of course, the next year, she went back on the pill for medical reasons.

I had it done several months ago after number 4.  I highly suggest milking it for everything it's worth.  I sat in my chair and got a fresh beer served to me whenever I asked. She likely knew I was pushing it, but she played along.  It was a good time.  I had some pretty bad looking bruises, which isn't something you want to see down there, but it all healed up quickly enough.  Only time if ever hurt was trying to go upstairs too quickly.  A jock strap wouldn't be a bad idea.
