Pre-race routine:

Nothing special.
Event warmup:

Ditto.
Swim
  • 24m 57s
  • 1880 yards
  • 01m 20s / 100 yards
Comments:

Felt real strong conditioning-wise. The yardage wasn't an issue. Now I have to work on getting faster (by doing tougher interval work), and trusting myself that I CAN go faster when I tri again.
What would you do differently?:

Take it out faster.
Transition 1
  • 03m 49s
Comments:

What would you do differently?:

Not very good. Need to practice.
Bike
  • 1h 21m 8s
  • 24.85 miles
  • 18.41 mile/hr
Comments:

The bike - my achilles heal. The 25 mile ride was at the edge of my abilities, given the distances I had been working out at. For the first loop I was just under a 19 mile average, but I really began to lose it around mile 20. Still, given where I'm at in my training, I was pleased with my time...just need to work on getting faster. Oh to maintain a 20mph pace.
Transition 2
  • 01m 53s
Comments:

OK.
Run
  • 1h 02m 4s
  • 6.8 miles
  • 09m 08s  min/mile
Comments:

I should've done much better. My problem was that I never ran a trail before, and found myself running gingerly (slow) to dodge roots and depressions.
What would you do differently?:

practice running trails.
Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster:

the trail. I had a lot more energy to give...but I couldn't trust myself to let it loose.

Event comments:

Served beer. =)

My lone gripe is that all the post race pizza was gone by the time I finished (from what I heard the sprint tri people gobbled it all up). Not much variety for food, either...just had veggie trays and dip. =(

tri was well run. The many volunteers were very hospitable. Beautiful day.

A good first tri for the summer.

No wetsuit. Just a speedo and cap. Water was 69. Very refreshing. The water must not have been that nice to most, though, because I was surrounded by people in wetsuits (I started at the front of the first wave).

Any michigan/ohio/canada tri people headed to the Big Fish Tri in Hadley Twp, Sunday? I'll be there.
