First tri of the year, who's in?  I'm doing the sprint Saturday morning.  Hopefully my new wetsuit arrives in time!

I'll be there!  Doing the sprint too and also its my first Tri of the year.

No idea what the course has in store.  Flat? Hilly?

i'm in for the sunday sprint-and-a-bit.

the bike rolls a wee bit, but the nastiest part is climbing out of the conservation area itself - you won't get the additional fun of the hills up to the turnaround on the 30k bike course.

the run is mostly flat, though you do climb a bit to the finish. it's primarily on crushed gravel trail and running across the dam is kind of neat.

cheers!

I'm doing both races, and a friend of mine is doing his first tri at the sprint on my old bike  First racing test of my new bike, front wheel, tires, tubes, eyeballs, and shoes.  2nd outing in my wetsuit, so my T1 should be fun.

I believe I'll also be in the MSC recharge zone post-race if anyone wants to ask questions or get tips to avoid making mistakes I have made

I'm in on the Sunday race.

First tri of the year, practiced flying dismount yesterday so I'll see how it goes

Don't expect much on the swim but should be ok on the bike/run. Nothing difficult, few rolling hills on the bike, well shaded on the run.

Nice course and burgers as recovery food

See you on Sunday. If you see someone with a TrainingPeaks race kit, don't hesitate to say hi !

If you are doing the saturday race, the run isn't shaded.  it is really only shaded for a few km of the sunday race.

There is one pretty challenging hill on the run course in the second last km as you run back up to the top of the damn.  The hill starts short and steep then levels off to about a 2% grade for a couple hundred metres and then short and steep up to the damn.

(I live in woodstock and regularly run on the course on my long runs.)

I will be doing this Woodstock race this Saturday for the 1st time.  Don't expect much from my swim but hope to have a very strong run performance.  We'll see what happens!

Good luck to all participating this weekend!

The water will be warm. I run on the trail beside the lake a few times per week and thank god the race is this weekend and not in the middle of June... the water will be stagnant by then! The bike course is a lot of fun. Mostly up hill to the turn around (15km). After that its a lot of downhill, except for a gradual little climb 2-3 km from the finish. The run course is fairly smooth, you have to watch your step in a few areas where the limestone has eroded a bit. I'm doing the Sunday full race. It my first one... the nerves have set in already!

Yuppers, born and bred...unfortunately j/k! I swam across the lake and back last night. The water quality surprised me. I didn't smell afterTongue out and it was a perfect temperature. You can see about three feet under water and the only foliage is around the edge.

It was my first time swimming in a wetsuit. I am glad I had a chance to try it out first. Good luck to everyone!

Anybody know if they accept race day registration?

I know very last minute...

I've never raced a MSC event before...I know the trisport ones usually have race day registrations.

Looking to do Sundays duathlon.

Thanks John for this very well organized event (I was the one in the TrainingPeaks race kit).

And thanks for the weather. Being able to setup the rain before the race (enough time to let the road dry) and hold it until after the race was great from MSC

Well done !

You are welcome. I do remember you and noticing the Training Peaks kit as I was shaking your hand at the Finish line. Thanks for the positive comment!

I did enjoy the event Multisport put on.

I didn't enjoy the day I had.  Cramps put a damper on my overall time but I enjoyed it nonetheless.

I plan on doing the last 3 events you are putting on.

The only problem I had on the run course of the duathlon was in the trail, there was a fork that wasn't marked.  The guy in front of me went left (so I followed) when we should have went right.  It was the portion that leads you towards a small bridge in the trail.  Other than that everything was well run.

nice to meet charlie out on the run course, and get a proper chance to say hello after the race

i'll echo playmobil's thanks for opening up that hole in the weather for us - feel bad for the GT12.9 participants, though!

I did the duathlon, so we did the 7.5 km run first and the 4 km run after the bike.

We asked someone sitting in a truck if we went the wrong way, he said yes and it looked like he was going to reposition a sign.

I was pretty pissed at my times overall, but found this race was great.

That sucks on the route for the duathlon, but on the triathlon side it was efficient and well laid out.    The dismount line was guarded like fort knox and we all played on a level field.  It was a great event.  Parking was easy, and when I was told I'd be running on gravel and grass was a little concerned but there was absolutely nothing wrong with it. It was a nifty little course, and i'll be back next year.

Just a heads up, that asphalt along a couple of stretches is gonna be a concern in the near future.  It looks like it was actually paved in the last few years, but something definitely wrong with the application.  It shouldn't be cracking up and heaving that quickly.   I don't know what the problem is specifically...whether the asphalt itself had consistent density when applied or if it's the subgrade below it...but the heaving and cracking at i'd say every 10m or so along some stretches shouldn't be happening this soon.  This road is going to face some serious issues in +5 years or so.  It wasn't bad for the ride in any sense, but you could feel the bumps pretty hard on the aero bars in some areas.  Nothing to write home about now though, but in the future this road is gonna get chewed up quickly.

Another good MCS race. Nice weather on Saturday and the water was surprisingly warm. The only thing missing was my S/B/R abilities.  I'm looking forward to Binbrook!
