Way cool!!! I'm sure the team from Fermilab were thrilled to have their findings validated as well.

I sent Randall Munro a cartoon idea for the discovery of anti-Higgs boson particle. It was just a people shaped hole in the ceiling.

Was just catching up on the announcements. I'm a huge physics nerd (I actually name all of my servers/computers in the house and at work after famous physicists) and read everything I can find on particle and astrophysics.

I agree!  Until Jerry Springer gets the paternity results, I don't think that the Universe is Higgs Boson's baby!

Well? So what are the names, which physicists?

Between home and office PCs and servers, I currently have: Einstein, Newton, Heisenberg, Pauli, Brahe (more of an astronomer I suppose) and Maxwell.

At various points in time I've also had Ampere, Volta, Tesla and a handful of others.

If anyone wants to learn a bit more about physics I would suggest looking up the Richard Feyman lectures on Youtube.     He can explain physics beautifully and in layman's terms.   The man speaks eloquently.

This is so incredibly exciting; if anyone would like to learn some more about the LHC and the research, there is a decent webinar at:

http://www.perimeterinstitute.ca/Outreach/General_Public/What_the_H...

This is from last year when the first hints of the Higgs particle began to appear but it gives a good overview of the experiements.
