Master  1793     Essex Jct, VT |  Subject: My daughter is riding without training wheels!I just wanted to share that my 5 year old daughter for a few weeks now had been asking me to teach her to ride without the training wheels. Sunday afternoon I took them off, put air in her tires and up to the Tennis court we went. We spent 20 minutes with me running and her pedaling. I was correcting her often and we had a blast together. Monday- more of the same about another 20 minutes, slightly less correcting but I still did not let go. Tuesday (yesterday) I was running and a few times let go for a moment, then she said, "Daddy, let go." I did. She was off. Riding around for about 40 minutes without anything holding her up. That's it. A little over an hour spent helping her realize that she could do it all along, and a few days that we will never forget. I cried. Yeah, I'm that guy. Thanks for listening. I begged and begged and he isn't very mechanically inclined so it took him what seemed like forever, but I remember how good I felt that he would let me ride without them! Hopefully it will be a memory your daughter will also cherish! |

If you don't think it's a big deal, consider this......I remember my first time riding without trainers like it was yesterday....and it was 46 years ago! Thanks dad! |

Being there for their 'rite of passage', helping them practice and achieve; you uncork a feeling of joy in them that can never be put back into the bottle. I just loved that day with my daughter. Thanks for bringing back the memories. |
