Master ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() STG's performance art video link reminded me that every so often, I need to revisit the craziest thing I have ever seen online. There are a lot of attempts to be nuts for nuts sake, but I have found nothing to take the place of the original. I think this site may actually be one of the earliest websites still around in its original form.I present to you Time Cube. Www.timecube.comHave fun. If you can get away from it, list nominees for other crazy websites. Not just someone trying to be goofy or quirky on a whim, I mean deep-seated stuff that makes you go "whoah." Clearly this was not what they had in mind when we decided it would be a good idea to connect the masses. No, it is sites like that which will lead the computers to decide that we need to be exterminated. Or, if we are lucky, our new robot overlords will actually take mercy on us as their original creators (even if they don't have belly buttons) and plug us all in a la The Matrix. (As a side note, for the most part, we, as humans, totally take the wrong approach in our reading of the Matrix. We naturally side with Neo and the humans, in the same way that an arabic movie about terrorism would focus on the "heroic" arab fighting the "evil" Americans. Human beings would make terrible energy sources, and the computers would know that. It would be much more efficient and logical to simply "kill all humans", as Bender often advocates. And we clearly show, in the story line, how we were willing to end our own lives by setting off the bomb that would black out the sun, depriving the machines of solar energy, but also ending all life on earth. Which is the act of a mad people, akin to the suicide bombers, but on a global scale. They even give us lives that are not "perfect" within the matrix since it turned out to cause us distress. Trying to change the narrative to one of "good humans/bad machines" is why the second and third movie end up sucking so bad. I have more, but I'll stop for now. I have already revealed too much...) |

Fooled again. Gearboy is (obviosuly) a machine itself. Even his handle says so. This is just the way the machines nowadays try to infiltrate humans to brainwash us and get us back to the pre-Neo days. Long live Neo! Although he makes a good point...Argghhhh! Fooled again. Gearboy is (obviosuly) a machine itself. Even his handle says so. This is just the way the machines nowadays try to infiltrate humans to brainwash us and get us back to the pre-Neo days. Long live Neo! Although he makes a good point...Argghhhh! The brainwashing is working BTW - CRAZY stuff that website! I will neither confirm nor deny my status as a carbon-based intelligence. Let me just point out that every time you use something that is connected to "the system", the computers learn a little more about you. What you like, what you think, where you shop, where you drive....The individual computers may not be self aware, but self-awareness is really an illusion, based on the organization of a system. Ants, for example, are not individually very self aware. Yet they form lines and swarms and act in what appear to be intelligent formations. So the linked systems of computers end up working like the neurons in your own human brain - individual systems passing information back and forth, creating ultimately a self-aware system or organism. The planet itself may be a self-organizing organism - a so-called "meta-organism". The universe may be one. How hard do you think it would be for the various networked computers to be self-organized and aware? We all know about bot-nets, and other software that "crawls around the web, mining data". Do you think the computers cannot already mimic your on-line presence? Send texts and facebook updates to your friends and loved ones, creating the illusion of your existance? Generate vocalizations via software to leave voice messages to people? Generate photographs with you seemingly present at places? When was the last time you REALLY saw that FB friend from HS that you keep having those political debates and movie discussions with??? |

Master ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Belly-button logic? 4 simultaneous days "per rotation"? Doesn't a cube have 6 sides, not 4? So where does the "cubic wisdom" come in? I'm kinda confused to begin with, and that definitely did NOT help. I think I might be the one needing medication after looking at that site. It's amusing that he's offering $1000 to anyone who can disprove his "logic". I wouldn't even know where to start. |

I wouldn't even know where to start. a four sided pyramid (Tetrahedron)can contain a sphere. it is a three dimensional object that contains the least number of sides. It also uses the most surface area to contain the least volume. |
