Oh, Lordy.

So, I mentioned in the previous thread that I got a cramp in my right calf at the end of my run last night. I stretched it. Soaked it in a hot bath. Slept on it. And it's still a little sore this morning. I've not had this happen before (that I can remember), so I don't know what else to do? I'm scheduled to run 3-4 tonight, so I'd like it to be in tip-top shape.

Advice?

Felicia, I think both Ann-Marie and Jo have been fighting this type of thing lately as well. My only issue had been tightness in my, uh, lower back/upper leg area. I have taken to using a softball on it. It had loosened it up a bit.

Wow, so I had a range day yesterday and didn't have access to a computer or my phone.  When i checked my phone there were 80 emails! The majority of them were Manatee thread updates! You all were BUSY yesterday. I love the SO pix.

I only have a couple pix of me and DH on my phone so here is one of them.  We were in Vegas for my april relay.  I think this was last year.

(as posted on FB)

How was I supposed to know that the cake (for my mother's 79th birthday) pointed out to me by the boutique deli owner (in stringy cutoffs and flipflops) as "very popular" would be a NUCLEAR GAY SMURF EXPLOSION?!

The evening ended with my mom snorting blue frosting out her nose. I'd say it was a ripping success of a 79th birthday.

Holy hell! And I thought rainbow chip was pretty gay! Wink It looks like Mutti thoroughly enjoyed herself. Here's what I did last night

Well, you did run a beast of a hill over the weekend(which remind me but I don't think you normally do, right?)

It sounds like you are doing all the things you should. Be sure to hydrate, hydrate, hydrate and if you are up to running, take it very easy and reevaluate yourself throughout.

I don't DO IM!Laughing

I would, however, consider volunteering. Do you want to give me a reason to go up there?! Hmmmm?

I'm going to Tahoe in September.  Might volunteer at Whistler, although it'll sorta be a last minute decision depending on work.

Well, I don't really have an SO, and I post the Funny Farm Furry Family members often enough ... so here's my mom and I at dinner tonight. Heck, if I weren't her daughter I'd definitely do her, 79 or no. She is amazing in every single conceivable category. But even most shallowly ... she has *perfect* melons. Even at her age. *Perfect.* I really wish I could post a pic of them. They're like Renaissance-textbook perfect.

Not a stitch of makeup on either of us, and she doesn't color her hair. Lord, pleeeeeeez let me be like my mom

P.S. Plus, she's wearing a dress with fish-scale skeletons on it. How cool is that?

I just got my fitness results back from our coordinator for the test we had earlier this week.

My body comp (aka BMI) is in the 85th percentile

My run (1.5 mile) and push-ups are in the 95th percentile

My sit-ups are in the 90th percentile

And my flexibility is in the 80th percentile

These percentages are based on law-enforcement, not the general public, and they are based on gender and age. Interestingly my numbers are down from last year because I didn't specifically train for the fitness test this year. My run, however was faster in spite of stopping at one point during the test to fiddle with my music. Yay!

The frustrating part is that with those stats I am stil BOMOP in triathon!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Melanie, you asked about the 50 mile challenge in the old thread. My answer is no way! I am not even close to that kind of mileage, nor will I probably ever be.

Hi guys an gals. Thanks for the enquiries, been on my hols then v. busy at work once back. Add to that the fact that i started smoking again whilst in TurkeyFrown and my mojo went a little bit too far south. Gave myself a big kick up the b*ckside and feel a lot better for it.

Back on the non smoking meds so I should be back in the clean air society by the end of the weekend. Keep your fingers crossed for me.

Just started back on the jogging and am planning a final event before the end of the the year. The 'Evil Sheriff' duathlon calls to me. Should be a lot of fun, running through Sherwood Forest, if the November weather holds out.

I seem to have missed a lot af chit chat and no doubt a few RR's. Well done to all of you who have completed races recently. I have been thinking about you Manatees despite not getting onto the site that often.

Unfortunately for you lot, I'm back.

Also, I don't know if you have noticed but I haven't been running in a few days. I have some tightness in my glute/ITB from my previous HM and figure I am best just resting before this weekend's HM than trying to push through it (in this case.) So, hopefully I don't kill anyone.
