As usual, I waited until the last minute and have NO IDEA what to dress up as for Halloween.  Ideas?  Suggestions?  Pics??  What are you going as?

I'm going as a father of two with a couple beers in my back pockets.

A couple years ago, one of the houses in the neighborhood gave candy to the kids, and a shot of bourbon to any of the adults accompanying the kids.

As to the OP, no costume for me.

Halloween's on a Wednesday and where I volunteer that day I can't get too outrageous. I'll be dressed as Wednesday Addams from the Addams family. I have the long black hair, which I'll plait easily, and I have a black dress and black tights. I might wear a white shirt with a pointed collar just for the detail, and that should be good for the day.

During the evening, I'll wear all white, black boots, bowler hat and throw on a false eyelash. With a glass of milk in hand, any Kubrick fan will get the reference.

Work with what you have - any characters that you've always wanted to be that you can mimic with items from your closet? Do you want to go with humorous or scary? Elaborate or simple? Makeup or not? I can help, but your question is way too vague!

haha....well for reference what i have done the past few years:

amy winehouse, dr. cuddy (with husband dressed as house of course), audrey hepburn (in the iconic black dress/gloves/pearls), and marilyn monroe.  so i have lots of bits and pieces to work with - black wigs, lab coat, gloves, etc.  i like to do something culturally relevant/recognizable, but not super popular so that there will be a bunch wherever i am going (a friend suggested katniss everdeen and while i love the idea, i just think there will be a lot of katniss this year).

i don't mind needing to do hair/makeup or pick up a few things, but i am very time-limited so it hassss to be quick/convenient to assemble.  (the amy winehouse wig project was...a lot of work)

There are a lot of characters from Hunger Games...you could re-use the wig, re-style the dress, throw some crazy makeup on and accessorize the hair or spray glitter color on it, and be Effie.

If you're feeling body confident, No Doubt has finally released an album after much time off...Gwen Stefani could be done with the re-style Marilyn wig, and you could find some wardrobe pieces to show off your rockin' triathlete body. Just do push-ups and sing "Don't Speak". People will get the reference.

Lady Gaga and her various incarnations of self can also be done with your wig. Wear all white, get some clear balloons and attach them to yourself.

IF the power goes out, you can wear a bunch of frozen meat all over. Good luck! I hope this gets the ball rolling.

Just go with the rocky horror picture show theme, certainly with all your leftover cosutme parts you could pull something together from there

Good luck! I am terrible at costumes most of the time. People who can dress up and do so well are fun to look at but always leave me a bit boggled at how they got there. (for reference the best costume I ever did was Indiana Jones. I already had the hat and a jacket that worked so all I needed was a whip and an "I hate Nazi's" pin to wear just in case anyone was confused on who I was)

I am going to be 'elmer's glue' mostly because a number of my friends call me elmer (it's sort of close to my last name).

My other idea was an onion, which would have been random and amusing.   Of course, my favorite was the couple's costume of my gf being a 'sexy mosquito' and me be a 'mosquito bite'. . .

I'm going as a zombie punk, complete with blue-dyed fauxhawk (thanks to industrial strength hair gel), metal spiked bracelets, skinny fit jeans, loads of safety pins, and Doc Martin boots.  I used to be a punk way way back (yes an original 70's punk), so it will be fun to be a bass-a** again Laughing

I'm a huge fan of a 70s camp counselor costume.  Buy a t-shirt and some iron-on letters to make up a fake camp name.  You'll then need tube socks, sweet 70s shorts, a whistle, clipboard or megaphone. Oh, and lots of enthusiasm.

You can wear the t-shirt again (I now have several) and the rest of the costume is reusable in a ton of different ways.

We're watching Madagascar 3 right now and the whole Circus Afro costume would be pretty colorful - a zebra suit with a rainbow clown wig. I might have to talk my son into a new idea. He is planning on Puss In Boots.

I was thinking of "Emma Peel" from the Avengers in the 60's but that is probably too dated but then I thought of Scarlet Johansson's character in the latest Avengers movie.  Very similar and your Marilyn Munro's wig should work with it.

I just checked IMDB.com and her hair is red not blonde in the Avengers.

I went as a triathlete attacked by a shark (wetsuit with a stuffed shark on my arm)... My husband went as the lifeguard (wore one of my old uniforms). A little fake blood and you are off and running. I found the shark at a toy store... and already owned the wetsuit

If you are going to a party and plan on drinking though... keep the top half of the wetsuit off... or you will be way too sweaty.

Funny, we never took pictures that year.

Have fun!!

Last year there were a couple of women in the subdivisions around my house that dressed up as stewardesses and pushed a beverage cart around "selling" wine, beer, liquor and giving out peanuts and pretzels to the parents walking around with their kids for a small donation. Considering I was one of the said parents walking around it was a pretty cool deal.

I went as "Scuba Steve" to a party on Saturday.  It seemed to be e big hit.  I might add that I weigh in at about 270, so a fat guy in a wetsuit might have garnered all of the attention...

they aren't even trying anymore, are they?

I took the kids out yesterday afternoon to visit some people ahead of the storm. At the last minute I got an inspiration. Swim cap, goggles, and a neckful of finisher medals: Michael Phelps. Wear your suit and a warmup/sweats combo, you're Missy Franklin.

or wear cycling gear and get an iv bag and stand, and you're Lance.
