Subject: The origin of TAN?

This article made me chuckle...here's a quick quote from it:  "Tan's identity remained shrouded in mystery. Most historians believed he was a poor, illiterate laborer, while others said he had gone mad from syphilis and that madness could explain his inability to speak. To discover just who he was..."

http://news.yahoo.com/identity-famous-19th-century-brain-discovered-112823975.html

It's an interesting article even if ya don't post in the TAN threads.

I don't participate in TAN as a general rule, but I thought the #1 rule of Tan was NOT to talk about TAN, outside of TAN?

I posted in that thread as well, but only once, and under a *much* different ID.

Used to be we deleted them when they got too big.

1st thread with TAN in the title is, I think, TAN 8.

And I know it went back to the summer of '06. I'll dredge it up and post more when I get a couple secs...

TAN, actually titled as such (there were a few single-digit ones titled with the full Thread About Nothing), began in the summer of '07.

If I recall it was HangLoose who coined the term `Thread About Nothing'

Coincidentally he was the first BTer I ever met in real life when he picked me up at the train station in Crystal Lake and took me to the Super 8. Then I met Core and Whizzz and Schmize and Holly and the JSchmitts that weekend and we invented the aerobong.

Ahhh memories.

Oh...those were the days.  I can't remember if it was him or I, but I remember when TAN was just a baby.

Scout breaks were common and Texting Zilla was routine.

Girl, no offense, but choo ain't even close to the Hall of Fame of thread killers.

Marmadaddy had to stop running the program that tracked how many threads some of us killed to free up storage space for threads about peeing on the bike and a 50 page thread about nothing.

Nope, it was hangloose.
