Expert 1083 The Woodlands, TX | Subject: Vitamix After years of longing, I'm finally thinking about taking the plunge and buying a Vitamix soon. I started looking today to get an idea on prices and didn't realize there are so many models out there! To the current Vitamix owners, which model would you recommend? I definitely want one that works well for green smoothies. My Ninja Blender leaves chunks at the bottom and I'd like a smoother consistency. Anything else I should consider? |

My Ninja makes really good fruit smoothies, it's the smoothies with leafy greens that are giving me issues. Edited: I REALLY should google before I post! I found this youtube video, the NutriBullet looks awesome! her Ninja was definitely showing what mine is doing, the NutriBullet was much smoother. Edited by erin116 2013-02-01 3:19 PM |

I have had a NutriBullet for about a month and love it. It's worth noting that even though you won't have chunks left when making green smoothies, if you're using kale or other more coarse greens, the texture will not be as smooth as it would be with a Vitamix. With that said, based on the cost differential, I'm VERY happy with my Bullet and have an extra $3-400 in my pocket. For that much money I can deal with a little extra "texture" in my drinks. Fruit smoothies with a Bullet, an A+. Green smoothies with a Bullet (using coarse leaves) a solid B (vs. an A+ for the Vitamix). |

195 | Subject: RE: Vitamix You should also seriously consider a Blendtec. It is amazing! Does soups, smoothies, veggies, fruits. The shape of the bowl is different so nothing gets clustered up and requires stopping and stirring. The price is comparable. Check it out before you buy. |

Extreme Veteran 611 Casa Grande, Az. | Subject: RE: Vitamix I've had 'em all, except the Blendtec. I've went through 2 Ninjas, they just don't the smoothie like the Vitamix. Plus, you can make soups in the Vitamix. NOTHING I've had comes close to the Vitamix. Now I know why other owners kept telling me to quit wasting my $$$ on other units. Had it for about a month...you will not be disappointed! I got the 5200 at Costco for $375....I shopped everywhere and that was the best deal I found. On the weekends, the Vitamix road show sets up at my Costco and has a model that is basically the 5200 with a timer on it. I think it's $499. The website offers a setup with the 5200 with the dry canister for breads and such for $550. The $375 version is in store only. It's just the 5200 base model with the tamper, cookbook, and video. |

164 | Subject: RE: Vitamix After a few different cheap blenders I decided to get a Vitamix from Costco too. I was trying to decide between the Blendtec (fun website WillItBlend had me leaning that way) and the Vitamix. Ended up going with the Vitamix because there is more control over speed than the Blendtec. As I understood it Blendtec was based on pre-programmed cycles where as the Vitamix I can set it exactly as I want it. I have used it for smoothies (fruit and green) and soups. It amazes me every time I make soup that it will heat/cook soup in five minutes just based on blender heat...Blade friction?

376 | Subject: RE: Vitamix I was watching "The Chew" and they gave everyone in the audience a Vitamix, I wish I was there that day. I would never consider buying a $599 blender, but $375 sounds more realistic. Is there any big differences in the two? So far, I'm pretty happy with the Ninja. |

Expert 1083 The Woodlands, TX | Subject: RE: Vitamix Thank you for all of the responses! I'm heading to costco this weekend to pick up the 5200 - for anyone interested it is the same price (new) there as it is refurbished on the Vitamix site. Costco online also has a deal that includes the 32oz dry container, but it seems cheaper to buy the base model at the Costco store and buy the dry container on Amazon later if I decide I want that. I am such a nerd - I'm so excited and can't wait to get it! Anyone have any favorite recipes to share? |

Vitamix charged shipping on their refurbished machine which made costco the cheaper option. It's the in-store Costco that has that price. Online they sell it with the 32 oz dry canister and the cost goes up to $499. (edited to fix the quotes) Edited by erin116 2013-02-15 9:57 AM |

Regular 104 Texas | Subject: RE: Vitamix I took a chance and bought a new Vitamix off of ebay. It was brand new, and I think it was purchased off of QVC. It is the "Creations." I paid a touch over $300. We couldn't be happier with it. I had the same chunk issues with the Ninja. The Vitamix leaves no chunks. I use it usually twice a day. We make our own nut butters, soup, and of course smoothies. When/if this thing ever gives out, I won't hesitate to buy another. |

Not sure if it was the 5200, but I thought of this thread. I went last night to pick up the 5200, and at the Costco in Tempe, AZ, it was $375. But dammit if the guy wasn't a great salesman and I picked up the 6300 instead for $499. Normally I would have never done that, but I got my bonus from work and it was about $500 more than I expected, so I consider it just part of my bonus lol. I've made 2 smoothies so far, and can't wait to try all the awesome things you can do with this thing! |
