Subject: RE: small town poolNot a small town but at least 50% of the time I am the only one in the pool during "faculty swim" at my school. In four years, I think I have had to share a lane once, back when we had a master's swim program. There was one other woman and we split the lane. The lifeguard clearly isn't happy about having to stay till closing time just for one swimmer, but I don't have much choice as no other nearby pools have lap lanes/times. This year resorted to financial incentives (Tet money packet) and that has improved his attitude considerably. At first it drove me crazy and I yearned for people to show up; now I honestly could care less; if the workout is really hard, I'd rather nobody see me gasp and groan! |
