Gunfire being exchanged. Transit officer critically wounded in exchange with suspects.

Apparently more suspects than originally thought ?

watching the feed, apparently it does.

timeline goes:

> Attempted robbery at 7eleven (Cambridge)

> MIT police officer shot and killed

> Carjacking and chase to Watertown

> shootout where one suspect was shot (later declared dead)

> one suspect missing after shootout

I think that's where it stands, looks like it's all related as the picture of the suspect in the 7Eleven robbery is one of the Boston Marathon bombing suspects.

Getting texts from a friend who is at a conference at MIT. She was supposed to come home this morning but everything is shut down. I hope they take the second suspect alive.

Is there a federal death penalty? I'm assuming this will be a federal case.

I know that's the gut reaction, but I really hope he is captured and put on trial.

It probably wouldn't hurt for you to get a refresher on how the justice system works in the US.

I'm full aware: It works badly and slowly. 

I'll back away from my previous statement.  I'm not saying they should execute him on the spot.  I just wouldn't shed any tears if he accidentally got hit by say a few hundred bullets.

Story is about 1/2 way down, page 18 "will box for passport"  He was trying to make the US Olympic team and become a citizen.

Apparently #2 could swim a bit.

[Updated 9:48 a.m. ET] An aquatic director at Harvard University told CNN that he hired Dzhokhar Tsarnaev as a lifeguard more than two years ago, but hasn't seen him for more than a year.

"He seemed like a very quiet, unassuming young man," the aquatic director, George McMasters, told CNN Friday morning. "He showed up on time, watched the water, rotated from position to position fine, got along well with students and swimmers there at the pool."
