I couldn't read my Garmin. Moved my arm closer/further away, and it took a bit to figure out what it was saying. The smaller type is what I can't see. Luckily, the larger fonts are still OK, as is anything with decent light. So.....I've reached that age, huh?  I've noticed he same problem with reading most anything with small type and low light.

Not sure I'm happy about any of this happening. Getting older sucks.

I'm 45 and just got my first pair of glasses last week...   Now if the ringing in my ears would ever stop, I'd feel 39 again....

The next thing that happens is your hearing starts to go....but that's actually pretty cool because you can use it to ignore your wife.

yep, went to bifocals just this last year.  And my hearing...I can't really blame that on age.

Heres the list. As you'll see its not all bad. Some things you'll just have to turn into an advantage.

- You'll find that shirts with pockets come in a lot handier now. You'll need the carrying space for stuff likes glasses and I Phones. The I phone not so much for the phone but for the memo pad to remind you not to forget stuff and the maps function for when you can't remember how to get places. Remember- shirts with pockets. The perfect Birthday, Christmas, and or Fathers Day gift.

- While we're on the subject of senses, you may start to notice a drop off in your hearing. Use this to your advantage. Living with all women (teen agers and/or those subject to hormonal changes), this whole selective hearing thing can work hugely in your favor.

- Eyes: 1- You'll never again not order something because its too expensive as very soon you won't be able to see the prices on the menus. 2- Reading the newspaper will take a lot less time as you'll only be able to see the headlines. *This has an added benefit of leaving you happier (without chemicals) by not reading the depressing news underneath the headlines as well.

- Golf: Assuming you play, knowing that it’s a popular game for people our age, there are many advantages to being older to look forward to here. 1- Taking carts and not having people look at you like you're a wimp. 2- A lot less pressure now to reach those par 4's in 2. 3- Short and straight = A lot fewer lost balls....

- Financial: Since you are now older and still working this probably means you are not rich. This however has a little realized hidden benefit in the sense that it is highly likely you will never be kidnapped, or the subject of an extortion plot.

- People will start to confuse you with other well known middle aged people like George Clooney.

- Trendiness: From now on there will be no pressure (now that you are older in case you forgot the subject matter here) to be trendy and cool. This is a huge relief as you now will be able to listen to all the ABBA music and dance like Elaine in Seinfeld  all you like without being embarrassed.

- Life Insurance: You won't have to worry about it anymore. Your significant other will be making very sure everything is in order and that it is fully paid up.

- Driving: Not to worry. You’re not driving slower, its everyone else that is driving faster....

- Looks: You'll notice people telling you a lot more frequently you look good. Just ignore the 'for someone over X' part.

- That whole early to bed early to rise thing; not a problem anymore...

- Now that you're lets say 45 odds are very strong that you'll make it to 46, and for now its still a lot better than being dead...

Not too long ago, I started having the same issues, and I asked my Dad when he started having trouble reading finer print in low light.  He responded by saying, 'Do you mean when did they start making the print on things too small and making the lights in stores and restaurants too dim?'  I kind of like his perspective - it's not a 'me' problem.  Nope, definitely not.  Gotta love denial!

If it hasn't started yet, wait for the DREADED ear hair. I hate those little SOB's more than anything else about getting older. You'll lose hair where you want it and grow it everywhere you don't.

I thought it was the nose hairs claiming their manifest destiny via the eustachion tubes. That woulod explain the hearing as well.

It was a happy day when I discovered bifocal sun glasses at Costco a few years back. Now I can see clearly the dash and GPS info while driving.

My father always says that If you are older than 40 and nothing hurts when you wake up, you are dead.

Million dollar idea: Garmin should make a bifocal cover for its watches.

I've been fighting the small print squint for a few years now, and I'm just about ready to give in and get some reading glasses.

Curse you, old age!! *shakes fist*

Dual Eyewear make great reasonably priced sunglasses for running and cycling.  I picked up a pair last month.  So, when did they start reducing the size of the font on menus?

Get the "Brightest Flashlight" app for your phone.

It has save me many times from asking my wife to order for me because I cannot read the menu. Now she orders for me because I cannot make the right decisions, but I cannot find an app for that...

But seriously. Brightest flashlight app. You will thank me later.
