Get this:  3 years ago my eyes started getting.... BETTER.  I was at -3.25 in each eye 3 years ago.  Then, I started noticing my glasses were on top of my head ALL THE TIME.  dang, probably time for bifocals.    Finally went to the eye doctor.   She checks my eyes 3 times.   Finally says: "Well, in school they tell us NEVER to do this, but I have to follow the data. I'm going to give you a better prescription.

Fast forward 3 years:  My last glasses were -1.75 in each eye, and I'm finding them on my head again.

Of course, the HR person at work said "Ryan!  I think you need to exercise.  It seems to me that you have ... (holds arms way out and puffs out both cheeks.)"

So you have to take the good with the bad.

bswcpa - 2013-05-08 7:14 AM Yep....welcome to my world - owner of about 20 reading glasses stashed everywhere - one is in my tri bag.

On my bike ride this afternoon, I took my phone and a pair of reading glasses, because if I stopped to see what time it was or check messages, it might be nice to be able to read them.

Yes. While cooking, I have been known to put the empty box of what I'm making on the floor so that I can read the directions. Who needs arms?

I couldn't read my Garmin. Moved my arm closer/further away, and it took a bit to figure out what it was saying. The smaller type is what I can't see. Luckily, the larger fonts are still OK, as is anything with decent light. So.....I've reached that age, huh?  I've noticed he same problem with reading most anything with small type and low light.

Not sure I'm happy about any of this happening. Getting older sucks.

I'm struggling with that as well.  I am near sighted and had bifocals built into my glasses, so I am good there.  However, I wear contacts when SBR-ing, and can just barely read the Garmin when it is split into 4 screens.  VERY annoying and I feel your pain.

What's really screwed up is that it doesn't even sneak up on you. Just one day, *POOF* you can't see a damned thing in small print.

I was trying to engrave initials in a necklace when I realized I couldn't see the marks I was making. That shook me.

Hearing? I've flown helicopters with turbine engines most of my adult life, I haven't been able to hear in a noisy restaurant in years

They say the mind is the second thing to go...

I can't remember what the first is.
