Subject: Has anyone dealt with MRSA?
Uuuugh! Over the last year or so my husband suffered through what we thought were two different spiders bites in his armpit. Saturday morning I woke up with a bit of a bump in my armpit and figured I had a bite. Over the last few days the bump has become bigger and much more painful. In my spider bite research I kept seeing MRSA and how it can easily be mistaken for a spider bite. I am convinced that is what this is--especially since my hubby has had reoccurring episodes. Have any of you gone through this infection? I'm going to the clinic today--I'm hoping antibiotics will clear it up, just wondering how soon. This is not fun!

My boss just spent a week in the hospital with MRSA resulting from a very minor leg wound several weeks ago that did not get better. I had another friend that almost lost his leg to MRSA a few years ago after getting scraped on some rocks in the Gulf waters off of the Texas coast.. Don't mess around - go in ASAP to have it looked at!

I spent 5 days in the hospital with IV antibiotics and then two weeks at home giving myself the drugs after being trained by home health nurse for 20 minutes. I have severe iron deposits on my left calf where all the blood pooled from the infection. I had to put on Silvadene (burn cream) on my leg every few hours for many weeks and then I was pulling many layers of skin off because of the mrsa.

Do not delay. Mine started as one spot on my left calf and about three hours later I was in the hospital. I lost 21 days of work and a lot of strength. Get it checked out ASAP.

MRSA is less scary to our health care people than it used to be and more prevalent is certain areas of the country. When I was first starting practicing maybe 13 years ago the entire hospital practically went on lockdown if there was a single case. Fast forward a few years and we just presume everything that hits the door is infected with MRSA. If you are healthy, fit and its a superficial infection most likely you can be treated with oral antibiotics. Now VRSA is REALLY scary

A guy in my office just finished the best part of a year on varying super doses of antibiotics. Took a lot out of him and now trying to rebuild his immune system and gastric balance. Get it checked

Update: got it checked by our local clinic and put on antibiotics immdediately. Said to keep an eye on it and if it worsens to go in to Salt Lake City. Saturday morning the cyst head 'broke' and boy did a bunch of gunk just ooze out! The inflammation is going down as is the pain. I'll finish my course of antibiotics and go from there. From the sounds of things I am lucky it isn't worse! The doc at the clinic wasn't immediately concerned as I had no fever, aches, etc. Just the site was extremely sore. Thanks for your advice to get in and get it checked!

Very few people get bit by spiders.......it's almost always staph....not necessarily MRSA, but rarely a spider bite. That's the best rule as far as I'm concerned.

My oldest daughter lost a good chunk of the back of her leg to a MRSA infection that kept rearing up.
