I just want a thread where we can celebrate Wednesday's rulings and not debate incest, polygamy or bestiality.

A thread where we can celebrate love.

This is a pic my SO's dad and gf. They took this picture and sent it to me since they couldn't make it to Boston for the marathon.

There has never had to be an explanation or a debate. They love us and accept us unconditionally. And that is what this is all about.

Beautiful.  As it should be.

I dated a woman for a couple of years in my late 20s.  My parents had a really hard time with that.  A really hard time with that.  Her mom knew, but never acknowledged me as her girlfriend.  And I was her--6th(?)--girlfriend, as in she had never dated a guy ever.  Tough, painful situation.

I'm very happy for you that yours is so different:) Hugs to you both and your beautiful families.

Sorry. I didn't mean to open up a can of negativity. Someone took the bait which I didn't intend to lay either.

It's alright. I mean, they are valid (but separate) debates and I respect that.

Some of my family was like that in the beginning. But over the decade (eeks, decade!) they have really come around.

Whoop!

I live in Mississippi, so this outcome won't have much of an impact where I live for quite a long time.  However, it means so much to some very close friends and I could not be happier that the country took one big step foward!

Asalzwed - I'm happy for you.  I'm happy for all who would like to marry someone they love and can't because someone decides it's not right.  Admittedly, I don't have a dog in this fight, but I can't, for the life of me, figure out why anyone, or any government, or any religion would have a problem with it.

I guess you can't count on me to march in the streets in support, but you can sure count on me to tell any detractors to STFU.

Marry on!  Laughing

As deeply sad as I was in November 2008 when my state voted to take away the rights of fellow citizens, I am now as happy. Now, my relatives, friends, colleagues will be free to marry the person they love. That just makes me happy.

My taxes just increased substantially. But I've never been more happy to pay extra. No more playing the system as a "single" parent of 4 when there really are two parents!

Seeing it in Des Moines (far from the gay bars and at 6:00 in the morning on a weekday) is a totally different deal.  If you would have told me 15 years ago that I would be seeing that today I would just never have believed it.  Yay!

I remember right after DADT was repealed last year, seeing 2 cadets from the Naval Academy in Annapolis together out in town. Obviously, no PDA in Uniform but you could tell they were together - made me glad to see it
