Subject: The Wire (I know - I am super behind)

So I am FINALLY getting in The Wire ... despite having a friend who worked on the show, living in Baltimore, and being a prosecutor I never made the time to see it Embarassed.

Now I have Netflix and it's treadmill time for me (I don't run in the dark). I'm only a few episodes in but I'm loving it!

Getting into the wire is ike bring home a new puppy. It's amazing and you wonder how you lived without it. Then you realize that it will end one day and leave you as a crying shell of your former self. But it is better to have loed and lost than never to have loved at all.

So enjoy The Wire. But know it will end. This may seem obvious now, but by mid season three this will be hard to accept.

Said the same to Kido. It had a great run. Lasted a while, and I still wasn't tired of it when it ended. Great show. Heck, I should watch it again.

It's phenomenal on so many levels. It's interesting that while there have been a few attempts to copy the formula that made The Sopranos so successful, no one has tried to make another Wire. It's one of a kind.

I grew up in Baltimore and I can't think of another city where the Wire could have taken place. And the writers had such a good ear--they really captured all of the idiosyncrasies of the way people talk and the different subcultures within the city.

The Wire was a great show, though I found some seasons more interesting than others.

One of the things I found interesting about it is that almost any music in the show comes from an on screen source (car radio, boom box, etc). It was something I read about half way though the series and hadn't noticed on my own.

Another interesting thing about the accents is that Idris Elba (Stringer Bell), Dominic West (McNulty), and I can't remember the actor's name who plays Carcetti (he's Littlefinger in GoT) all have fairly thick British accents in real life.

AWESOMENESS!!!!; There's a new one-Long Winter Sun-that just kicked off, looks to be pretty good. The last guy I turned on to The Wire has been complaining of staying up late and not getting enough sleep!!!

Cotswold super sprint - UK. Lots of bodies colliding, I swam half over someone, got kicked by some bloody breaststroker, and as a mob we poured towards the first buoy.

I went into the pool area (as this was a pool swim) and got body marked. That's when it hit me that I was there to race - this was not a clinic.

Already a cyclist and not a bad swimmer, I figured all I had to do was build up to running a few miles and I’d be ready to go. The challenge invigorated me, and I ran out to buy new running shoes.

Since I didn't have much time and since it's a super sprint, am I OK just go to at the training relatively hard through Thursday or even Friday?
