The Carerra 911 still rides on the basic underpinnings of Hitler's original Beetle. Surprisingly how much of that is still incorporated.

And the convertible is 100x better looking

Well done.

I saw one today on the street, and it just seemed like it was the offspring of crossbreeding.  If I didn't know the VW Beetle history and aesthetic, I would prefer this, but it just seems to kinda smack knock-off.

ETA: Yeah, Pitt, maybe I should've said throw back.  Dunno. Maybe they're going for a different audience.  Somehow I don't see a daisy in a vase on this dash...

Not that I'm a fan of the modern bug.  I do prefer the look of this to the flower power bug marketing that preceded this.  A flower vase on the dash. WTF???

Now, you got to love the simplicity of a classic bug.  Who doesn't love Herbie?

ps, there is a guy at work that has one of these and I love to needle him about how nice his wife is to let him drive her car to work everyday.Smile

when i bought my GTI a few years ago the sales guy said they were redoing the beetle to try and get rid of the girly image that they had created.  the pink ones they made with the flower tail light cutouts were awful. its going to take a long time to get rid of the stereotype they created.

Yikes. I love Volkswagens sooooo much and these pictures are making me sad.

Although, I had a friend in HS who was restoring an old 70s bug and it had red primer with black primer polka dots and a grey primer hood. That was acceptable.

I think just about anything is acceptable and pretty cool on a classic bug.

Without a doubt.  I took a lot of flack when I had a Boxster and that's a long way from a beetle cab.

Good thing I am a chick. I kind of want a 90's one like this

Except the whole Seattle/Rain thing. Maybe I'll just put drain holes in the floorboards and wear my rain jacket.

My opinion is anything classic or truly retro is pretty cool including this car.  I like.  What I don't like is the forced retro new stuff that people get all funky with.  Just my opinion though and each is entitled to find happiness in whatever.
