Subject: RE: What music do you train with?
I don't listen to music always, but if I do, its usually for my hard runs. Tempo/threshold runs, or interval training. I prefer heavy, adrenaline fueled music to keep me going. Including: Machine Head, Lamb of God, Sepultura, Slayer, Hatebreed, Metallica, and more I am not thinking of. Last year, Rancid "And Out Come the Wolves," got me through some good runs, good tempo in lots of those songs. Been listening to some Iron Maiden lately too, got to love some of those classics, "The Trooper," "Hallowed be Thy Name," and you can't leave out "Run to the Hills." (Which should be on every running playlist!!! )
If I can get out to some trails, or a park, or just somewhere different for my long runs, I don't need music. But if I am going to be out 2 to 3 hours running around my house, I've seen these streets enough that I need a little distraction. I like Opeth for longer easier paced runs.
I am not one of those "purists," where I need to search my soul during my runs. In most cases I'd rather not be alone with my thoughts! (Sort of just kidding ). But really, if I don't have music, I like it when I can just totally zone out.
