Subject: RE: Lowest water temp ?56. Ralph's half Iron in March in San Diego. They actually offered a shorter swim for those who didn't want to swim the full distance. I swam the full distance. A shriveling experience. Brrrr... and that's my HIM goal for next year. I'm cold already thinking about it. We went to support a friend who raced it two years ago, and saw them pull a guy from the race in T1 because a) he missed the swim cut off; and b) he was shivering uncontrollably. The guy was super p!ssed and wanted to finish the race. They were like, "Dude, you can't control yourself to get on you bike!" The coldest I've swam in was 52. We went to Lake San Antonio in Feb last year for a training weekend for Wildflower. I guess you can call what I did "swimming" although it was more like torture. That was just plain awful. And to think, there are people who do the Treasure Island race sans wetsuit! The SF is generally around 54 degrees, regardless of season. |
