Insanely jealous! Enjoy Hawaii. If you get a chance, run
(or bike
) Tantalus!
52 minutes of easy running here
(hit my training goal of 200 hours today
), plus what seemed to be hours of riding a tri bike around a residential neighborhood and on the trainer
(finishing fit for P2
). Ended up with new saddle and pedals--the ones on my road bike here are rusted/falling apart so figured I should invest in some new stuff. And no, I didn't come back with a new cat!
(If that doesn't make sense, check the vet/P2 post.
)
One more easy run this AM to make it to 201 for thr year, and then headed off to Sri Lanka for a bike tour. Will try to post a few pics. Happy travels/training/holidays to all!
RE "Desert Runners"--made me laugh as it reminded me of a very hot, high-altitude marathon that I actually won, sometime in my late 20's, probably because a lot of the field opted out at the halfway point
( they let you switch during the race
).... I kept going as was in no particular distress but it was pretty tough.
(That was the race where my mom yelled, "It's just you and the Kenyans" and, oddly, it was actually true. The male winners were two Kenyan dudes on a training run.
) Anyway, as I crossed the line, almong with the usual finishing swag, i was handed a book about the Badwater race called "Marathon and Beyond: Into the Valley of Death". I don't know if this happens to others but I have ZERO emotional control at the end of a long event. I couldn't stop laughing, laughed so hard that I actually fell over and rolled on the grass! There was just something about the timing.....
