Elite ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Decided I would run the PF Chang's 10K in January to kick off my 2016. I still haven't decided on my A race yet, but looking at a few races. what does anyone else have planned for triathlon/running/whatever in 2016? Edited by Fitzy 2015-12-21 5:00 PM |

Member![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I had a great year planned…until I found out I'm really injured ![]() Hip labral tear…so I'll spend a good part of early 2016 in Physical therapy to see if I can get running again. Maybe switching my focus to more cycling and doing the bike portion of tris in a relay team. Definitely not what I wanted but trying to focus on the positives. |

When do expect to be back at full strength? Not sure. Since its a tear in the cartilage, it doesn't heal, but you can strengthen the area through therapy. For now it's a small tear but if it gets worse or really gets restrictive, surgery is one of the only options, but that isn't even 100%. Very frustrating. With all the holiday stuff going on, and being out of town, I haven't been to the PT yet, but will start at it next week. Will be interested to see what they think and have me do. Thanks for asking! |

Master ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I'm running Rock and Roll USA (or DC or whatever they're calling it now) in March. Will do Eagleman again in June and likely IM MD (still on the fence on that one). So those are the big 3. I'll also add in some local sprint/oly tris and a few other stand alone running events as well, I'm sure. Susan - sorry to hear of your injury, that sucks. Heal well and swiftly! |

![]() | ![]() I'm racing the Lifetime Tri in April and September - both Olympic distance. Then in May there is another Olympic one - I think it's the Sherox or one of those female triathlons. But my big race this year is the Half Ironman in October in Tempe. Currently I'm training for the Olympics in April and May and will then shift my focus to the half Ironman over the summer. I did well in my age group last year in sprint distance so I'm hoping I can keep my training up to do well in the Olympics. |

Elite ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() tough race for your first, but an awesome venue. swim is cool (temp) - you can easily go with or without a wetsuit. bike has a few rolling hills and couple of decent climbs. get to fly on the downhills though. the run is rolling for 1.5mi, uphill for 1.5mi (and I mean a hill), and then back.
Mountain Man is one of my favorite races and I've done it the last 8 years. Have fun! |

bummer about the Marquee cancelled, i was looking forward to racing that one too. I had a blast at IMAZ 70.3 last year and am thinking of signing up again. |

Member![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Well…been rehabbing the hip and doing what I can. Doing the bike portion of the Esprit de She tri (or DU) in May. I'm able to run/walk around 5 miles now with some discomfort and keep thinking…maybe I'll sign up for something else. Going to get a second opinion from another sports doc to see if Surgery is the only thing that will really fix this. Would LOVE to do the Mountain Man sprint maybe and Lifetime Tri. After IMAZ, I feel so out of the loop. |

![]() ![]() | ![]() Just started doing races (a Duathalon Nov. 2016). For my first race of 2017 I plan on doing the Anteater Exterminating race 032617 in Goodyear. Then the Shamrock Thanksgiving Tri. Other than that it will be fun runs and maybe a half marathon thrown in for fun. Goal for 2018 is Ironman 70.3 Arizona. |

Member![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Sorry, I don't come around here much these days. Just super busy and not really training for anything. I sold my Tri bike (it was too small for me anyway) and am looking for a new road bike as well (my old one is finally dying). BUT, still training as always to keep myself sane - spin 5x/week, run 3x, ST 2-3x/week and the occasional swim (when I can fit it in). Missing the Triathlon world so much, but really trying to be conservative for now. I'm going to Scotland for 2 weeks with my mom, sister and niece and want to be sure I can sit in the plan for 10+ hours and walk around everywhere. After that, I'll revisit the surgery option because it's so frustrating having a limit that prevents me from doing something I love. Sorry to post all of this here. I'm still considering doing a race in the fall, but I need a bike first - lol! Be thankful to be able to train and compete! It's something I won't take for granted! |

Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Nice to hear from you! Have a great time on your trip. I know exactly what you mean about missing tri community and all! Been there and it is hard but we tri peeps can over come just about anything - because we are tough minded. Tracy |
