Question for those who are registered for 2016 IM Wisconsin. How/When did you register?

I was hoping to get into 2016 race for my first Ironman, but when I checked in November general registration was already sold out. I'm just wondering when registration opens and how quickly it sells out. Any suggestions in case I try again next year. Is there any way to guarantee a spot?

I registered about 1 week after the race. When I did my first Ironman Wisconsin back in 06 the race sold out in minutes and if you wanted a good chance to get in you had to volunteer. The volunteers had dibs on registering first along with the participants from that years Ironman. The rest had to hope to get in with online registration. You can get in a race by doing the Ironman foundation but that cost a lot more money. Think 1400 dollars this year. I am not sure about the other Ironman events and how fast they sell out. Hope I answered some of your questions. I am sure others can help you out too.

I'm in!!! I think it was 2-3 weeks after the race I/We registered. Registered with my wife. Doing Muncie 70.3 as a training race along the way. I've done several HIMs, but this will be the first full IM for me. Never had the time before, so I decided to make the time this year!! Wife will be doing her first HIM and IM this year after years of sprints and Olympics

I registered the Monday following the 2015 race. Basically, as soon as registration opened.

Thanks for the tips!

I did notice the Ironman foundation option, but I'm not quite ready to fork out the $1400. I'll just have to be more diligent next year about watching for registration to open. Good luck to all those who got in!

I am looking to race IM WI next year. Any hotel advice for those racing this year? I will be flying in and using tribike transport, so it would be great if I could find a hotel where I won't need to rent a car. Do I need to use the Ironman website to make a hotel reservation, or contact the hotel directly? I noticed a link on the website.

Jim! ZOMG! I'm SO MUCH ON THE CUSP of signing up! Chris wants to do it, but I'm going to have to walk the damn marathon due to my knee replacement. I have made a solemn vow to my ortho that I won't even try to run it.

So... that makes for a really long day. And that's why I'm on the cusp. Chris may sign up anyway.

Leaning towards doing it, though.

It's nice not to have to make a decision right away, but it does leave room for a fair amount of vacillation back and forth and I'd rather just make the decision and do it.

Laura!  It would be great to see you come out of "retirement".  I'm sure you'll know what is best for your knee, even if it means walking the run.  But, then who would give me a hug at the turnaround point of the run?

I booked a room at the Concourse and its where I've stayed every time doing IMWI.  Just on the other side of the Capital building from the venue so its an easy walk...but expensive.

I'm a fairly good climber but don't want to blow up on the run. I'm 60 and have a FTP of 230 watts. Any suggestions?

Should I remove the PD Jammers bars and ride it as is, set-up for riding in the drops and hoods? Should I run my Easton Orion II wheels or my Hed Jet60 C2's for IMWI?

If you would have told me that I would want to train over ten hours a week for a race that can last up to 17 hours, I would have laughed. But somehow, my ACL injury has refocused my outlook on life.

It makes no sense to train hard for a year to hone that aerobic system only to have all that training undermined by a few anaerobic bursts on race day. So, how do you go about it?

TriLover recently had the opportunity to interview Tim and Nicole. Read what the DeBooms had to say about triathlon, their support for each other and life.
