Subject: RE: 4.28.16 Rainy Day Thursday Wow--send rain here! There were a bunch of storm clouds on the horizon when I ran just before/after sunrise and some lightning last night; really thought we might get at least a quick thunderstorm but nothing transpired. It usually takes about a month of buildup to really get started. Everything weather-wise has been off ever since last year's rainy season started more than a month late, so who knows.
5:15 AM 1:05 of running with some short tempo pickups. Heat/humidity already so high that it might as well have dumped rain on me. My shoes were full of sweat and squishing but the time I finished!
4:50 PM 3200m of swimming. A real challenge as our pool closes at 6. Made it with 10 minutes to go. You can do the math. I had to really work to finish! Not a continuous swim; there were some rest intervals, just not much!
We also seem to have a lot of "special events". One next week and one, quite horribly, the day after my HIM. To get leave, I had to promise I would be back to attend it (and herd my kids to their performances ) in the evening. I might be crawling on hands and knees while snacking non-stop (not sure if this happens to anyone else--I can never eat that much the night after a long race. But the next day I have to just keep munching all day or I start getting famished and light-headed. ) but I will try. As my assistant said, it can't be any worse than attending such an event when very pregnant (which she has done twice, shuffling around in flip-flops with her ever-present box of crackers )! |
