Subject: RE: Olympic to 70.3 Time??? Originally posted by emjenks So I'm planning on competing in the St. George 70.3 next May. I'm planning on following a training program but I'm worried about the cut off times. I just completed an Olympic distance in 2:43. My times were 21 minutes for the swim, 1:21 for the bike, and 52 minutes for the run. The Olympic course was current aided and the bike and run were flat. I know St George is really hilly and not current aided. Do you think I can finish St George within the cut off times? Im not worried about the run because I ran D1 in college and now run marathons and it's easily my strength (I ran with a friend during the Oly). The bike is definitely my weakest event but I'm taking spin classes. Do you think competing St George is plausible and any predictions for time? YES! Best Oly I've had was 3 something (long bike ). Did an Oly 7 weeks before my 1st HIM and was having a great race and crashed on the bike and lost ~2 weeks with injury, then had lung infection 2 weeks before the race, my time was 6 hrs. You'll be fine, "Each athlete will have 8 hours and 30 minutes to complete the race" Start riding in earnest! If you don't have one get a trainer and start riding using virtual power (if you don't have a power meter). |
