Ohio 70.3 - Bike Sticker Removal

I saw this last year when I did Austin 70.3 as well. I have some older stickers on mine, but when I checked it in no one really cared about the older stuff. It all depends on the person checking you in I guess; sometimes you can be lucky.........

I did St. George 70.3 last month and saw about half the bikes in transition with stickers all over the frames. It did not seem to be a big deal or enforced at all from what I saw.

I didn't know that leaving old race numbers on your bike was a *thing*

That rule was mentioned at CDA 70.3 this past weekend. I asked specifically as I have some prize stickers on there (Vietnam 70.3, 70.3 Worlds, and my "lucky elephant"). I asked at check-in and was told I could cover any non-CDA stickers with electrical tape if I wanted to keep them, which is what I did. Lucky Elephant did not survive the tape removal (he was peeling badly anyhow) but the others did; no issues with officials. Not sure about enforcement, but they did mention it at the briefing (I think) and it seemed like most people had complied.

They were not number stickers, just stickers with the race name--sometimes they are part of the packet at IM races, or you can buy them at the race expo. Of course I would remove old number stickers!

Same here; I just had the older race stickers on them (no old numbers)....sort of liked how they looked :D

So the main concern is stickers from previous races that have bib numbers on them. Other stickers (names, brands, etc) are not of IM's concern.

I left my old bike number stickers (the little ones) on my bars and simply covered them with electrical tape. No one batted an eye. (that's the advice I got from an IM race director). So leave them on but cover them up to avoid any confusion as to which number is your CURRENT race number.
