Swim
Comments: Soooo...my wave was the first wave after the elites, which was great, but included in my wave were all Clydesdales. Didn't really think about it until after the start. 5'0" me got swim trampled by some biiiiiig, powerful dudes. Kind of threw my breathing out of whack for the first few hundred meters. Finally found myself in a rhythm and the rest of the swim was grand--especially with the current! What would you do differently?: Positioned myself behind all the big boys. Transition 1
Comments: Transition was fine, a lady next to me started chatting so that slowed me down a bit. What would you do differently?: Nothing, wasn't going to be rude to the lady and shout "I'm going for an overall win...gotta go!" A few seconds of chatting wasn't going to make or break anything. Bike
Comments: Loved, loved, loved the bike! I felt great, pushed just hard enough. Mooed at the cows, said hey (hay?) to the horses, and thanked all the volunteers as I zoomed by. Best of all, I passed many of the big dudes who swam right over me--it was great! One guy was refusing to let me pass--I would pass him, he would pedal like crazy to pass me, I would catch him and pass him, and so it went four or five times. Finally when we hit mile 20 I was done playing the game and buried his a$$...lol! Never saw him again. It was a great ride, I loved it. What would you do differently?: Nothing--for me it was just great. Transition 2
Comments: This was a pretty speedy transition for me. What would you do differently?: Nothing really. Move faster? Run
Comments: I was really happy with this run. I struggled so much on the run in May in St. George. I have been using the Maff method for months now and it really works. I was so happy to run around a 10 minute mile. I felt great and had enough to really push the last two miles, which was the plan. The other great thing is that because I started the swim so early, there were so many people to run with--usually I'm alone, mid back of pack. I had plenty of pace booty to watch run by me! Lol!!! What would you do differently?: Nothing! I think I ran very smart! Post race
Warm down: I walked around with a perm-a-grin, wanting to high five someone since it was such a fun race, but I was alone, so I high fived myself, collected my bike and off I went! What limited your ability to perform faster: As usual, my ability to perform any faster than what I can! Event comments: This is my 3rd Spudman and I love it every time I do it. I will plan on it for next summer as well. It's just a great race all around! Last updated: 2017-07-30 12:00 AM

Arrived around 6:00am, my wave start was 7am. Pre race was the usual, setting up T2, walking around, going to the bathroom, etc. T1 was in a different location so I set all that up the night before.
This was a current aided swim--the warm up was actually fighting the current so I didn't drift past the starting bouy--hard work!
