Subject: 6.4.18 Monday Morning! Hey BT! Good morning! 6:00am: recovery stretching + light weights I survived the Bryce Canyon 50...make that 55K! They tricked us! It was an out and back course with the turn around listed at 15.5 miles. Nope...turnaround was actually at 16.75--I was worried for a solid mile that I was off course but nope! It was a little deflating knowing I was in for more than 31 miles...but whatevs! I just kept going. The entire race was between 7,000ft-9,000ft with a total of about 6,100ft of climbing. The altitude did not bother me a bit. All that training I've been doing above 5,500ft definitely helped. Heat didn't bother me either. In fact nothing bothered me except for some of the climbing--that was rough but just kept putting one foot in front of the other. Power hiked when I had to, ran when I could. It was amazing!!! I really loved the whole day. The cut off was 11 hours...made it in 10:40 ish. I stopped my Garmin at the aid stations so my official time was probably a bit slower. I'm going to attempt to attach some pics! This week will be recovery, forcing myself to go easy.
