Couldn't find the website - anyone know if this race will go this year?

At our last tri group meeting, I thought I heard that the race had been canceled. Something to do with the race director having permit problems with the city of Las Vegas and declining race participants.

It will be a shame if it's canceled, I did this race last year and had a great time. It was also nice to have an olympic distance in the state.

Can anyone confirm for sure whether this race will happen or not?

I sent an inquiry to Clay Moseley (who is plugged into the state-wide Tri scene very tightly) and he did not know but said he would make some inquiries. If I hear back from him I will post.

I too will be very disappointed if this race does not happen.

After all of the favorable comments I heard at the end of last season I was planning to do Las Vegas as my first olympic distance.  Sure hope they can get it to happen.

I just called the organizer, Danny Fisher. He told me the event has been permanently cancelled. I asked him what happened, and he said he's tired of doing it. I guess he wasn't getting a lot of help. Too bad, I was looking to do it for the first time.

Tom thanks for calling and getting the story directly from the RD. I had heard a rumor to that effect but it is good to get it from the original source.

I am also disappointed as I did this race last year as my first Oly and was looking forward to doing it again.

Looks like the Mtn Man in Flagstaff is a reasonable alternative (but much more driving time, at least for me.)
