Swim
Comments: Felt really good on the swim ~ I know I'm slow but kept a steady pace and freestyled the entire way. Tried drafting when possible (a first for me after reading others advice on this). The run to T1 was up across the beach and up 60 stairs... when I saw my time I was pretty excited. What would you do differently?: More swimming... Transition 1
Comments: Thanks for the suggestions of using Pam on wrists and ankles. Sucked down a GU. Did sit down to pull of the suit and put on socks. What would you do differently?: Just go faster... I could work on this more. Bike
Comments: Definetly a tail of two halves... just hammered the first half of the ride... averaged better the 21 and passed some people and was not passed. Felt great until the turn - now I know why I was doing so well... big headwind back. Although I was only passed by two people, my speed and energy were drained a bit. A bit worried about the run now which is usually my strength. Thought my time would be better than this but still pleased. What would you do differently?: More training. Transition 2
Comments: I must have been thinking too much or not enough... despite having everything laid out I did not drink anything and totally forgot to put on my race belt with my GU and my race number... oh boy. What would you do differently?: Think more dummy! Run
Comments: About 1/2 mile in I realize I have no race belt... the no GU factor is fine but I'm wondering if I get a penalty/DQ'd, or what with no number. A bit upset at this point which did pass the time. Oh well, just keep going. Note for next year... run lots of hills... this course killed me. When I finished no-one mentioned the race number so I'll take it as a lesson learned for next time - hope to never make that mistake again. Thought my time could have been worse... rank was decent I guess. What would you do differently?: Again, just more training Post race
Warm down: Walked around and talked with people ~ just lots of friendly folks. Event comments: Good fun race... nice in that it wasn't crowded at all and for me, the perfect way to do my first Olympic. Very well organized with lots of great volunteers. I'd do this again and recommend - but run hills before you race this course. Last updated: 2007-05-01 12:00 AM

Up at 5:00, big bowl of cereal and out the door... race doesn't start until nine but I like to be early and get comfortable with the set-up.
OK, I'm the first racer there so maybe was a bit too early. Walked around alot and talked to the volunteers... helped move some kayaks down to the water. Lots of great people helping out. The swim looks way long and it's cold and raining.
