Subject: RE: Inaccurate elevations?Yeah it's what I thought. The USGS service is spotty outside of the U.S. (go figure). It's returning bad elevations of 0' for some points and accurate elevations of around 3046' for others, so when the route tracker does the math, it sees a bunch of drops and jumps of > 3000', hence the crazy climbing number. The good news is I've found another service for elevations outside of the U.S. that's supposedly pretty good. I'll try to get it implemented this weekend, assuming I survive my 3.5 hour ride tomorrow morning and I'm able to tear myself away from the new Wii during the rest of the day. |
