Champion 26509 Sydney | Subject: CSC Team Thread Welcome to the Tour De France 2007. Team CSC is arguably the best all round team in the peloton, winning the Pro Tour team competition in both 2005 and 2006. Their Directeur Sportif is brilliant strategist and former rider Bjarne Riis who has built and fostered the team, which featured in the 2006 film ‘Overcoming’. The team line up is truly international, lead by Spanish rider Carlos Sastre who is a major GC contender in 2007. They are also lining up for a potential prologue win with time trial specialists American rider Dave Zabriske and Swiss rider Fabian Cancellara. Other key riders include this years winner of Paris-Roubaix, Australian Stuart O’Grady, yellow jersey contender Frank Schleck and American Christian Vande Velde. Your team line up is: 1. Chris Tree 2. Daremo 3. Jcjsc00 4. Melhndi 5. Mesteren 6. Mikethebear Please introduce yourself below including the crucial information like name, stages committed, bike/bikes you ride/own and anything else you would like to tell your team mates. You will also need to nominate/select a Team Leader whose role will be to collect the stages committed for each rider and collect your stages ridden every Monday. The crucial information collected by the Team Leaders on Mondays will be number of stages ridden to date, and the time ridden, and types of sessions (flat/rolling, mountain or TT). Number of stages is what counts for team victory! Your stages must be logged in your BT Log for verification purposes, but you are responsible for reporting your weekly results to your Team Leader on Mondays, this is done by posting an update in your team thread in the challenges forum unless the team prefers another method. The first Monday for reporting will be 16th July, the first rest day of the Tour De France 2007. In a second I will attach to a post the excel spreadsheet to be used by the Team Leader for your team tracking, results should be collected by the Team Leader and sent to me on Tuesdays so I can get an challenge update post in the forum by Wednesday each week. The spreadsheet includes the details of any team members who have already committed to a number stages and the last date for changing this is 12 midnight your local time on July 6th Once the Team Leader is selected by the team could they please drop in and introduce themselves in the Team Leaders thread that I will be maintaining for any upcoming questions or queries. This is a team competition so please support your team mates with inspires, motivation and encouragement as well as pledge your allegiance in your sig line, log and even avatar! Good natured sledging and competition with the other teams is part of the fun so feel free to stir up a bit of friendly rivalry. Most importantly this is all about fun and you reaching your goals!!!! So CSC… time to get racing! Let the Tour begin!! |

don't forget your edam! BarloworldMonday July 2, 2007 The Guardian
Name means Computer Science Corporation, the first software firm to be listed on the New York Stock Exchange. Tour heritage Not bad. Nine stage wins in their seven Tours, including the victory at l'Alpe d'Huez last year for Fränk Schleck, two podium appearances with Ivan Basso, two King of the Mountains title wins with Laurent Jalabert, plus the team standings in 2003. Currently they head the ProTour rankings. Past controversies CSC have one of the strictest anti-doping policies in the peloton and have never had a positive test. However, the Puerto files named Basso and Tyler Hamilton and questions are being asked about their time with the team. And the presence of the former Tour "winner" Bjarne Riis is a PR shambles.
£4.7m is enough for the bikes and still leaves change for the IT bloke to buy himself a Pot Noodle and a can of Tizer. The boss Riis was the first finisher in the 1996 Tour but is no longer the winner after he confessed in May to five years' drug use. The Dane has been a progressive manager, taking his team on commando-style training camps, but he is now a liability. Team leader Carlos Sastre, a Spanish climber who has crept into the top 10 in four of the past five Tours, came into his own last year after Basso was thrown off the race. He's touchingly loyal to Riis: "I have total faith in Bjarne," he recently insisted, before jamming his fingers in his ears and lalala-ing at the top of his voice. His father runs a cycle shop. Wild man of the saddle The German Jens Voigt is the Tour's ultimate escape artist, with a penchant for getting in lengthy, impossible-looking breaks and making them succeed. They'll be happy with ... Sastre on the podium, Fabian Cancellara winning the prologue. Fans will paint on the road "Schleck is an ogre, the rest are donkeys"; "Riis had dodgy piis" William Fotheringham predicts Sastre will be in the mix, Schleck will improve but Riis has to stay away from the Tour. If they were cheese... Edam Classic, consistent performer that travels well and is many people's idea of a big cheese. But there's one part of it which a lot of people say they can't stomach, a part that should be totally cut off and take no part in the feast. We couldn't comment. Regular 64 | Subject: RE: CSC Team Thread Hi Team! I am so thrilled to be on the CSC as the most rookie. I ride twice a week; brick and longer one on Saturday. I love training on Kauai because it is so beautiful. And biking is my favorite because I get to see such lovely sites as I huff up the hills in granny gear. (My background is as a swimmer...and thus I struggle with running). I'm going to post a picture of my bike because it is so HOT. I'm not sure what it is about bikes, and bike related stuff, but there is something very sexy going on. Thanks to Super C for setting this up. Very cool. And I am totally in awe of our own Mesteren for making the customized jersey. That just rocks! Since Mr. Bear is going to have the excel sheet open anyway, I nominate him for team leader. I'm going to make sure my tires are properly inflated. Can't wait to get started! |
