Ok, so what is the procedure here after a loss like that? Obviously the Yanks don't win every game, but a red sox-scale loss like this is unfamiliar territory. After I crazy glue my belongings back together what's next? Besides vowing never to say the name "Kevin Brown" aloud again that is... Does time really make it better or do you just repress, repress repress. I need help from the experts...

Drew

I've been a Yankees fan since the mid 80's and I can provide a little advice. Glue your things back together, take a deep breath and relax! We don't neet to blame any one player, coach or person within the Yankees organization.... George Steinbrenner will take care of that for us! As for "Kevin Brown", I doubt we will be seeing him next year! I'm just wondering who else will be fired.... uh um, I mean traded or released.

As a Cubs fan, we always say, "this is our year" (once the new season starts).

Next year, Cubs all the way!!!

here's some helpful advice for you Drew.  Find your local sports-talk radio station and tune in for a little while.  Chances are the hot topic is who to pin the blame on and who should be run out of town.  Players, managers, ownership, no one is safe.  Then you discuss this to death, and nit pick over details which seemed inconsequential at the time. Spend even more time questioning the salaries of overpaid players who don't perform up to expectations.

It will take a while for that sick feeling in the pit of your stomach to go away, but once it does you can start counting the days until spring training.  Of course as a Sox fan, that just meant more of the same, maybe not applicable to Yankees fans, but one can hope!!

Oh, and if you really feel that you can't take much more, you may want to skip the Pats/Jets game on sunday

I agree talk it out. Just like our infamous Bill Buckner footage that will probably be brought out and kicked around some more this week, A-Rod will forever be a part of every Yankees post season to come.

Also save all of your memorablia from past championships for you can tell your Grandkids you remember when! Interesting stat, since the payroll has gone above 100 million the Yanks have not won a World Series. So as with our Bruins, you may have to wait for a change of ownership to see another banner.

Last hint is to focus on another sport. All I want out of my teams is to be competitive enough to get me to the next sports "spring training". In other words when the sorrow wears of sometime next week focus on the Jets (sorry about the loss in advance). Also there are always the Rangers...oh yeah there locked out. How about the Nicks, maybe they could be of help. Sorry if I come off a little with a little too much gloating but this is what a repressed SOX and CUBS fan sounds like. BTW my patron saint is of the lost cause. Hope to change that next week.

Wow just the thought of two championship teams in this town at one time might be a litte too much. Guess we will be getting busy at work soon. I prefere work when it is dead quit. (PS I am a gravedigger)

Thanks for the tips. Actually I've already been following Triwitches advice a bit. I guess I'll just have to do what all the other Yankee fans are doing: Follow the free agent & trade rumors and root for the Cards. The sympathy card signed by all the red sox from my friend in the cubicle next to me really helped.

Luckily I'm not a Jets fan so I won't have to be disappointed again this weekend.
