Champion 26509 Sydney | Subject: The Living Dead Team Thread
Welcome to the Running Challenge The Living Dead represents zombies and mummies, those things that come out of the grave (sometimes at midnight) and scare human kind. Your team line up is: 1. 1sttimetri 2. Comet the Dog 3. Hazmaster 4. Marymosc13 5. Misscullen 6. Sailing4 7. Sassafras 8. StartingtoTri 9. Tritwinmom 10. Yogin61 Please introduce yourself to your team below with your goals for the challenge and running in general, what they are training for as well as names and any other general info. You will also need to nominate/select/volunteer a Team Leader whose role will be to collect the commitments for each runner and collect your team results every Monday. Your running time must be logged in your BT Log for verification purposes, but you are responsible for reporting your weekly results to your Team Leader on Mondays, this is done by posting an update in your team thread in the challenges forum unless the team prefers another method. Attached to this post is an excel excel spreadsheet to be used by the Team Leader for your team tracking and should be sent to me on Tuesdays AM so I can get an challenge update post in the forum by Wednesday each week. The spreadsheet includes the details of any team members who have already made a challenge commitment. I will be maintaining a Team Leaders thread for any queries, questions etc so if there are any problems please let me know. This is a team competition so please support your team mates with inspires, motivation and encouragement as well as pledge your allegiance in your sig line, log and even avatar! Good natured sledging and competition with the other teams is part of the fun so feel free to stir up a bit of friendly rivalry, Most importantly this is all about fun and you reaching your goals!!!! So…time to get running! Let the challenge begin!! Attachments ---------------- The Living Dead Tracking Sheet.xls (14KB - 30 downloads) |

Master 1480 Southwest Chicago 'burbs | Subject: RE: The Living Dead Team Thread how appropriate that our team is old things back from the dead, seeing as how the aging Saling is gracing us with his presence here! For those that don't know me.... I'm Laura, currently residing out in the southwestern 'burbs of Chicago. I've been training for the Chicago Marathon (my second attempt at the distance), and am now enjoying the fruits of The Official Taper (which is somehow different from the Unofficial Taper that I seemed to be on most of last week as well....). I'm having a little surgery on 10/26 (to remove two plates from my forearm), so I know that I'd be tempted to just hang up my shoes once the marathon is complete -- and 3 weeks of eating leading up to a good chunk of forced downtime is NOT what the doctor ordered.....so, I pledged 50 miles. A few will be put in this week, 26.2 on Sunday, and then the balance before the 26th. I'll get there, I promise! Oh - and as a side note - there are a handful of us here that are also on TEAM SKINNY in the Weightloss Forum, which is where we learned that the proper way to respect your elders was to make fun of them (you're with me on this Comet, right?). |

Extreme Veteran 604 Ohio | Subject: RE: The Living Dead Team Thread Good Morning everyone! I've got a fairly low running volume this month (240 minutes), which is probably good for me considering how September looked for me Just trying to get back on track and stick to my plan, so that's why I need a challenge! Looking forward to kicking some booty with the Living Dead team Have a great week folks! PS-Thanks to kagphin for setting this all up! PPS-Good luck to Laura at her little run this weekend! Enjoy your taper! |

Master 1381 Clifton, NJ | Subject: RE: The Living Dead Team Thread Good Monday morning to the Living Dead Team! I am a wimp when it comes to Halloween and all things spooky - that opening page freaked me out! I'm more into the kid-friendly version of the holiday Personally, I've never been so glad to see the calendar change to October - it means I can remove my binkini clad butt from my avatar! I was on the losing side of the boys vs. girls swim challenge and that was our penalty. I'd love to be on a winning challenge team this go-round. I'm Mary. I live in Clifton, New Jersey. I'm married and have a 6 year old daughter. By day I work from home for a Public Relations firm and some weekend nights I write for TV News. I love racing sprint triathlons, but running is now my focus as I'm attempting to run next year's NYC Marathon - I'll swim and lift weights to cross train on running rest days. Haven't picked my last NYRR qualifying road race yet - but would like to do another half marathon before year's end, if possible. Looking forward to the challenge - good luck everyone with their training goals - especially to the people doing marathons this month! I'll need detailed descriptions of how hard it was because that will be me next year |

Master 1809 hiding in your closet | Subject: RE: The Living Dead Team Thread i agree, how appropiate, the living dead. my real name is rob im 41 and hate to run. my yearly total so far is just over 50 miles so my goal of 20 is going to be a challenge. i know i can manage the distance if i just get out there. this is my second challenge, my first was bike to work and i surpassed my goal i set for myself woohoo, maybe i can do the same here. i am not training for any specific race yet, i planned on doing one the past year but failed to do so. next year. mainly im trying to live a healthier life style and lose some belly fat( another 20# worth is my goal) so far i have lost something like 31 #s , unless of course its a wednesday oh and i would never poke fun at my elders, no way not me . and on that note i would like to nominate SAILING as our lead "undead" since he has done such a great job with TEAM SKINNY. i know i can trust him to be honest and accurate and never add 20#s to my weight. have fun rob |

Iron Donkey 38643 , Wisconsin | Subject: RE: The Living Dead Team Thread HELLO, FELLOW LIVING DEADLINGS! I am Phil G. and ready to take on the challenge for this month. I have pledged out 50 miles and feel that this team WILL SUCCEED!! A little about myself - I am 42 years young and have completed 1 marathon, 1 half-tri, and a full Ironman (IM Moo) this year even though I started training last Fall. I used to be an avid runner YEARS ago, but being blessed with high energy, a love of sports, and not drinking massive amounts of alcohol and eating unhealthy all these years like my fellow H.S. and college graduate friends, I managed to keep my 18 year old physique (and I won't give it back). I'm still doing some recovery after IM Moo. My left knee/IT Band is going to be evaluated on the 8th, but I can still walk, jog, run, skip, or whatever it takes to to help out this team! Let the smack start!!! LET'S GO TEAM and KICK SOME AZZ!!! |

Master 1748 Port Moody, BC | Subject: RE: The Living Dead Team Thread THis is awesome! Hello team mates! My name is Chris, I am 5'8" (5'11" in heels), like walks on the beach, good wine with cheap dates, I am married (how, I'll never know) my child is a 105 LB rottie cross that is better cared for than any kid. I enjoy running but have suffered a few injuries. I am likely going under the knife for a hernia operation so I need to make some serious progress before I get knocked off my feet. So pile on the insults and smack talk to keep me motivated. Cause anyone that knows me from previous challenges knows it comes from me! Good luck to all of us, lets kick some scary tail! |

Master 1567 Kauai, Hawaii | Subject: RE: The Living Dead Team Thread Aloha teammates! I am Nancy a mom to twin 3yr old boys. I am rounding the corner to my 40th birthday and with that my body has been giving me some issues! One has been my feet, the dreaded Plantar Fascitus, got it so bad I could hardly walk. If you see my logs I have not run much this year. I very much miss it and I have learned I need to progress slowly. So I am signed up to walk/run 3 times a week. I can't use miles yet. This week I will probably be walking only and I will add some jogging next week. A little background, I grew up in New Hampshire, met my husband the Surfer from Florida, got married, moved to Florida, He became a salesman for Marriott Vacation Club, the ticket to move to Kauai Hawaii. I did my first sprint Tri in NH call the topnotch triathlon in 1997, my second sprint Tri last summer 2006. My goal is to someday do an Olympic. Right now I am doing winter maintenance! I nominate Saling4 to be the team captian since he so good at it! |

Master 1903 Portland, Oregon | Subject: RE: The Living Dead Team Thread Hey everybody!! I couldn't pass up a SooperCat challenge - and apparently my rep has preceded me. At least I'm not known for... oh wait... shhhhh.. never mind... My name is Leigh and I live on the left coast in Portland, OR. I have a hubby who trains with me, and just got me a personal trainer to hand my azz to me once a week. There will be lots of whining about this - starting Thursday as my first full workout session is Wed at 6am. I am not a morning person. Should be interesting. My first tri was a sprint at the end of July, but I've also done a couple half marys and a 10K this year- I'm new to this "running is fun" bit. Between April of '06 and April of '07, I lost 50#. Without all the extra baggage, it turns out that running IS fun! Who knew? Hated it before. I'll say 50 miles for this challenge. I only ran 17 in September, and my heel is still recovering from an owie in August. Hopefully all this running will help me get into the black leather skirt I went and bought on spec. (Speculation that it might fit soon.) Let's rock this challenge!!!! Gawd help us all if I have to put my azz on teh internetz. |
