Expert  760    Mt. Morris, IL |  Subject: Moment of SilenceAs of today Illinois State law mandates that every school day must start with a moment of silence. So I asked my students to reflect on what it means to win a Nobel Prize (Gore??). How much more can the government mandate teachers before we have no time to teach and all we do is test and follow other mandates. Great idea, take more time away from teaching. Note: my students are currently off testing with our curriculum director! |

The moment of silence is to be used any way the students wishes: Prayer, Reflection, Thinking about lies ahead, thinking of ways to get into the pants of… |

Hmm...moment of "silence" sounds suspiciously like they're trying to sneak prayer-time into public schools...by calling it "moment of silence", it's a bit more ambiguous and less offensive... |
