Subject: PUSH UPS AND ABS CHALLENGE FOR DECEMBER!!This is a simple one, people. December is a crazy month for all of us, so let's do this basic challenge that never requires a trip to the gym and will only take a few minutes of your time a day. The purpose of this challenge is to get you doing push ups and ab work on a regular basis. Push ups are a challenge for many of us - I have been working on it for about 6 weeks and I can finally do 5-10 real pushups at a time!! As for abs, I have found that nothing gets me fitting into my skinny jeans better than some consistent ab work. I propose for this challenge: Set a benchmark for yourself. How many pushups can you do right now? If none, then start with knee pushups or pushups on the stairs. The challenge: Every day, or however many days a week you prefer, do that number of pushups 3 times a day. THEN, every week your number goes up. For myself, I am at 10 pushups in one set. So I will do 10 pushups 3 times a day and next week will work up to 15, then 20, then 25 pushups three times a day for the final week!! Woohoo!! For abs, I can easily do 100 crunches in one set, so my goal would be 100 crunches, 3 times a day, for the first week, then by the last week I will be up to 200 crunches, three times a day. I encourage all of you to find a core routine, too, and commit to that 2-3 times a week. I love the Around the World routine that you can find on BT here . An example of an ab challenge would be "I commit to doing 100 crunches 3 times a week and a core routine (20 reps of each exercise)2 times a week, going to 200 crunches 3 times a week and 40 reps each on core routine by the end of the month."
That is my proposal BUT if you just want to say "I will do 20 pushups a day and 100 crunches aday for December" that is totally cool! Just as long as you are challenging yourself and getting stronger! Set your benchmarks, set a goal, and let's get started this weekend!
