I'm thinking about making Delta my first Sprint Tri Race.

Does anyone have any comments good or bad about this venue?

Ian.

Leah, I don't know what you're talking about, Delta is MY race!  My dad invented that race...after he invented Delta!

Ian, this was my first race last year and it was awesome!  I was so nervous but they run it so well and organized that a drunk donkey could survive.  The pool swim is not too congested (only 9 per lane) the bike course was well marked and pancake flat.  The run was easy as well.  I do recommend looking at the course if you can but is not required.  I think it is a great race to get your feet wet, I think you will enjoy doing it as your first race.  It'll be my second race this year, hope to meet you out there!

We can share the race Chris. Actually my race is the Tour De Delta. Be sure to come and check that out. I got involved with the Delta Tri because of the Tour De Delta. I participated in the Delta Tri in 2003 & 2004, then I ran the bike course in 2005 and the transition area in 2006. So keep in mind my opinion is a bit biased.

The community of Delta puts on great races. They are well organized, they do a lot of planning, there's great volunteer support and the courses are always well thought out. There's even such great support with the city, that we've managed to close the roads to cars since 2005.

The pool swim has it pros and cons, but it really the only option at that time of the year and it is really good for beginners and you can stop at the wall if you need to. The swimmers are seeded with the slower swimmers going in the beginning heats as this allows participants to be on the other parts of the course together. It also means that the course can be closed sooner which is nice for the volunteers. I mention the swim the most as this was the most frustrating part of the race for me, but it really wasn't a big deal either. Just know a good estimate for your time, seed yourself properly and then go and swim your laps and it will be fine.

Also if there is going to be sun anywhere, it's going to be in Ladner/Tsawassen.

Overall, I would rate this race as a 5 out of 5. So enjoy. And I hope to see you there.

I did Delta as my first race last year and it was a good race to start of my Triathlon career. The bike is pancake flat except the little overpass before you turnaround but that dosent count as a hill so.

Hope to see you out there!

So now that delta is over. How did everyone do. I did amazing. 1:08:27. 12:40 swim, 36:21 bike, 19:27. I was realy suprised dwhen they gave me one lap to go in the swim. I was thinking holy im done already awsome! Only thing that kinda sucked is i was 20seconds off top 3 in age and my dad beat me by 7 seconds. gotta work on those transitions more.

Congratz in advance to all who finished!
